Review summary

This was a group event and everyone had a great time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Great. We had a check-in reservation time and this made the process much smoother. Also, since we're able to complete most of the required information online, including pictures, getting onboard the ship is much faster.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
My expectations for food quality on Royal are high and it seems that every new cruise experience comes with a slight degradation in quality. It's as if the cruise line wants to serve average food to encourage passengers to pay the upcharge on their specialty dining options. Not cool! Also, keeping up with the different hours each inclusive restaurant is open was exhausting.

Chops Grille

3 out of 5

I used to love this place and didn't mind doing at least one upcharge to enjoy the food here. However, on my last visit the food was just okay which does not justify the stiff upcharge.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
One of the main reasons we choose Royal Caribbean is the activities offered. There is never enough time to do all the great things offered on the ship.

Flowrider

5 out of 5

All the folks assisting and keeping everyone safe are awesome.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The quality of entertainment seems to be declining though the ice and water shows were still pretty amazing. The comedy show was better than expected. The theater productions were a bit of a miss.

Studio B

5 out of 5

The ice show was very enjoyable and the performances gripping.

Aquatheater

5 out of 5

Fantastic performers and great show. Mesmerizing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service staff was hard working and pleasant as ever. They truly work very hard.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship and well maintained. The pool areas, as can be expected, need more attention. The Solarium area had some disrepair that should have been taken care of such as loose overhead coverings that made a lot of noise with the wind, so much that it was difficult to use the area to just relax on the loungers.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great design and layout. We were pretty comfortable in our cabin. The closet space and number of hangers was an unexpected and appreciated surprise. The balcony space however could use a bit of improvement. We were not thrilled with the glass and see-through cabin dividers, make for less privacy and it seemed like the noise levels were not as contained as in other ships.

Ship tip

Learn the layout of the ship, especially the public areas and areas you want to take advantage of such as entertainment and dining. Do a tour early on of the entire ship and take notes. It will save you a lot of time as your cruise progresses. Having the electronic maps is helpful but nothing beats a self tour.

Beautiful waters.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

My favorite port. Warm people, great culture, beautiful sights.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

It's not really Haiti, it's a Royal Caribbean enclave. But, having said that, they've made it enjoyable.

Disembarkation

Did the express check out. I've never been off a ship of this or any other size as fast. That was great.
