Review summary

overall don't recommend if you are going with family or with kids, stick to a smaller ship...newer and bigger is not always better! Positives: Harshad the head waiter and our main waiter at Table 482 - Laroussi, Ali and Dhana, Rina the assistant waiter and Elvis the main waiter at our friends table next to us we're all outstanding and tried to accommodate dietary needs as well as our dietary restrictions and some food allergies in the group as best they could. (The choices were very limited and the special meals prepared for us we're not tasty at all, in fact they were unpalatable. But the staff went out of their way to try to bring us other options. They also brought the chef JJ to our table to try to accommodate us ). They went above and beyond and out of their way to try to provide the best experience for us. Rate them all 10/10! Negatives: On the other hand the photography experience was terrible, we had planned on purchasing the USB drive for the all digital package right from the beginning. We tried to take as many pictures as possible during the professional photography sessions. Out of our family photos almost half of them were terrible, either we had our eyes closed or the picture was very dark or they did not level the picture and it was slanted or diagonal. Such failure to pay attention to details was disappointing as it seemed that staff did not really care if our we had her eyes closed or not and if the pictures turned out well or not. This is the time that we were getting our family pictures /portraits done, and we paid a lot of money and it was mostly wasted. We are going to have to get her family portraits done elsewhere. The other major disappointing thing was the limited time at Saint Maarten in the very limited time in San Juan, Puerto Rico; especially compared to Labadie in Haiti where we had almost a full day but did not need that much time, where as a full day in San Juan would have been exceptional and almost a must in order to see or do anything there. Lastly almost everyone at the shore excursions desk was extremely unknowledgeable on the ports as well as the activities. There was only one team member( young male) that I spoke with out of five who went out of their way to help me and actually find out accurate information, the others seem to just say whatever they thought or make up information, whether it was true or not.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
had dietary requirements but have never had such untasty food, I actually lost weight on the cruise! i am not joking! even the pizza place that was open 24 hours per day was not good pizza like the old RCCL ships! we only ate it when starved and nothing else was open! Breakfast was great though!

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
if you are in to sports like my husband you will love the flo-rider to learn surf and boogie boarding, and other sports activities like the gym...if you are not into sports like me and my daughters then not much to do at all on the ship during the day

Entertainment

2 out of 5
1-2 of the entertainment shows were good like Grease, and the water shows but the rest were not good.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
the kids hated the kids club and begged not to go back, this was most of the kids out of the 15 in our group, they only watched movies and played sports like dodge ball...my 8yr old went back a 2nd time and thought it was ok because her BFF went too. rest of kids were highly disappointed, as was I...especially when I had read about all the activities online such as theater, talent show, arts and crafts...there was NONE of that!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
average; decent service except in the excursions desk; they knew less about the activities than I did (all except 1 guy who was helpful and went out of his way to make calls when he didn't know the answer)

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
average

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
cabin was nice and clean and our attendant was great

Ship tip

don't go on this with kids or family; recommend smaller cruise ships for families, this might be nice for adults only

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
nice port, not much time there though

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
great port but extremely short amount of time at this port, not much time do anything

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
okay port, private island of RCCL and thus we spend super long time at this port but there is nothing to do here except beach (nice but water full of debris, and super hot!) and the ziplining...went back to the ship after 2-3 hours, friends left after 1-2 hours but port stop was like from 8am until 5pm!!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
fine

Wonder why the poster said don't recommend for kids? Adventure Ocean was best we ever had on RCI (sample size of only two). That and the tons of kids activities offered. We don't purchase much at all on board though. Can't see paying some of the inflated prices so don't. Doesn't detract from the experience though.

So sorry that your cruise had some hiccups...

when we sailed Harmony last November, I paid a lot of $$$ for photo package and they only took about 7-8 photos and they were bad. it was such a waste of hard earned $$$.

We were on Harmony in May and it was an absolutely fantastic ship and wonderful holiday. We are very fussy and have been lucky enough to have some amazing holidays. I can honestly say as loved ever minute of our cruise on Harmony and the staff were all fantastic and couldn't do enough to ensure the smooth running of the ship 👍🏻

Better for the next you stay in your house, if you go out and look for defects, it is better to stay at home, go have fun and have fun and always look on the bright side, you are going to spend money and to top it off you will complain about Nothing served you what you spent. Hello life is one .. be happy. I have gone to the oasis, allure and now harmony on August 5, and been happy at all and without problem. I hope you find the next one better.

meghna88 all the the things that bothered you, has nothing to do with size of ship. smaller ship you could have same issue. not understanding issue with ports, you were at each port 8hr, that is standard time for port. ship has to have time to get to the next port. can you tell us about all the fun thing you did on the ship? shows, water slide, zip line, rock climbing, miniature golf, long list of fun activities. 😎😎

We sailed Allure 3 times with our sons and sailing Harmony in a couple of weeks, our kids LOVED it, so many fun things. Oasis class is all we will ever do. I hope you find the right ship to suit your needs. happy sailing!
