Review summary

We will DEFINITELY book again with Royal Caribbean. With the exception of the Miami Port experience (which was NOT a game changer) and the stop in St. Lucia, the itinerary and experience was great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Giovani's (Server Julie) was AWESOME! Chops (Server named Vic )was OUTSTANDING as well. Izumi was o.k., but I'm not a big asian food guy. Windjammer was consistently great. Better hours (serving time) and better advertisement of the Pizza place in the solarium would be great. Did not know it was available until the 5th day of the cruise. Ruc and Brendan in The Great Gatsby (table 221) were outstanding as well.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Surprisingly, the Casino was a big hit with me. The table operators were great at teaching this novice how to play some games. Slot machines were a big hit for me too. Hot tub in the Solarium was also a favorite.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Did partake in a movie (Devotion) and it was enjoyable. The music by the various crew members was also nice.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very Top Notch service by all staff we encountered. Johnell was very attentive to our needs and quickly learned our daily routine!

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

Only complaint was the lack of outlets by the bed. I was unable to use my C-PAP machine for the duration of the cruise. Everything else was nice.

Ship tip

It is older, with less bells and whistles. But it was an awesome experience and I enjoyed the intimacy of the crew and passengers. It will undergo renovations soon, but I will definitely not shy away from booking future trips on this boat.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

I drove from Atlanta, Ga, Once we got to the port, the directions could have been better. Very confusing trying to follow the signs to long term parking. We ended up in the Shipping yard.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Excellent shopping and a very enjoyable port.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Found awesome deals on jewelry and created some new contacts for future trips!

Castries, St. Lucia

Did not partake in any excursions & glad we didn't. One couple apparently got in a motor vehicle accident while on a tour. Once we entered the duty free area we were inundated with MANY VENDORS asking to join their tours. They would follow you out of the building still hounding you. The "market" down the street was worse than the duty free shop. I've heard nothing but great things about this country and was disappointed in the stop. Maybe finding another more idyllic port with better surroundings would bring a better experience.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Great Experience! Was hoping to run into Rihanna (LOL) but I guess she was busy! Had a great time shopping and meeting the locals. Very friendly and hospitable people!

St. John's, Antigua

No Excursion (at any of the ports), but definitely enjoyed the port. Our goal was to search for deals in the port areas, and not so much going out for adventures. We were seeking relaxation and this cruise offered exactly what we needed. 100%

Disembarkation

The facial recognition cameras were a game changer!!!! Made the exit 1000% better than going through the actual Customs lines!!

Too bad about St. Lucia - you missed out on one of my favorite ports!

Recently was on the Carnival Vista. Borrowed a 20 ft extension cord from room steward for my cpap machine.

For future cruises either bring an extension cord for your CPap or ask the service desk on board for one or ask your room steward. They are happy to help you. Sometimes they will even give you distilled water.

Thanks for your detailed review. In 2019, we did a similar itinerary and enjoyed it immensely.
