This was an OK Trip by frankmoshir

Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first cruise ever with Princess Cruise. We had heard alot about it and may be that set our expectaion too high, thereore a bit disapointing with the actual experience. Our ship, Grand Princess, seemed to be a bit over exhausted and in need to have a face lift. I'm sure the safety equipment work ine however, the rest of the ship seem to be rusting. The furniture are all old and need a face lift. One thing which we found very annoying is that from themoment we got on the board we were bombarded with sales pitch for everything from buying a coupon for coffee to buyinng wine etc. With a $2000 per person, one would expect to have the coffee and water to be included, hiowever we were charged separately.

Grand Princess cruise to Alaska June by WestCoastCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our second cruise this year on Princess and we were not disappointed with a great cruise. The service was top notch, particularly the entertainment staff was very good. It was a ten day cruise, the first three days on sea from SF. There was many activities to choose from and we were never without something to do on board. We knew what to expect with our room (obstructed ocean view) which was well serviced many times a day with our steward, Herman. The food was always available, however it was not a highlight of the vacation. We started out with anytime dining and changed due to only two restaurants available for dining in the evening, making wait time very long for seating. We requested to change to traditional dining in order to get a reasonable time each night to eat dinner. By day four we ate dinner at 5:30pm and this worked out better. The meals had many choices but nothing outstanding. Lobster was served only once, as was Baked Alaska. Again, the entertainment was great and kept us busy every day. Our shore excursions interesting. Juneau, our helicopter tour was canceled due to weather, so we scrambled to get a bus tour to Mendenhall Glacier. In Skagway, we took the White Pass train ride. In Ketchikan we took the Duck Tour and show the Lumberjack Show (recommend). Our luded the Tracy Arm tour and that was excellent. We didn't know how far up the fjord our big cruise ship could go and it went within a half mile from the glacier. It was very exciting that day. We were in awe of the sites going up that fjord. In Victoria, since we only had a half day, we took the bus ride to Butchart Gardens. This was our second visit to Butchart Gardens and we were just as impressed as the first time (over 30 years ago). We arrived at every port on schedule and left each without incident. Overall, we really enjoyed our cruise to Alaska and would recommend it without hesitation.

Lacking Quality by Almondfarmer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Our first impression of this ship is that it's old !! As for the food We felt that they mased produced the meals at the cost of quality !! We also ordered room service coffee noticed a faul manure smell in our roam it was coming from the coffee !!!! They told us it was a faulty pot and the smell was coming from the foam insulation !! They did bring us a new one , but I wondered about the inside !!!! Because I had already had a few sips of coffee before we noticed the smell !! The last disappointment came when we went to the Tracy Arm Fjord our ship did not go where they had advertised we had hoped on seeing a glacier caving !!

So many disappointments by Hawk65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Toliet in the Cabin, had to be flushed several times to work. It was so hot in our room we couldn't sleep at night. They came in the fix it, but the problem persisted. Twice I waited on the phone for room service over 15 minutes. Once they answered and hung up. I called the Pursers office and they told me just to stay on hold. Other then that the cruise was nice.

Great Trip by kathyemlaw

We chose this cruise in particular because of the ports. We wanted to see San Francisco and all the stops. The ship even though older and reconditioned is beautiful and the design and set up is really nice. We had a balcony stateroom and enjoyed it very much. The staff and service and food was excellent. We would recommend this cruise to anyone interested in Alaska!

The trip was magical from the moment we boarded. Our mini suite was amazing, the food outstanding, many ship activities to do each day. Went to the spa three days in a row it was so great! Crew learns your name and favorite drink, and I even hit a jackpot in the casino!

Alaskan Cruise by Milton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Excellent cruise from San Francisco with stops at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria. The ship, Grand Princess, was beautiful and the staff were personable and extremely attentive. The excursions were many to choose from and the ones we chose were well organized, well executed, and just as exciting as expected. The food selections on the ship were plentiful from very casual to the extra charge specialty restaurants with gourmet cuisine. With so many people in a cold, wet environment, there were health issues and both my wife and sister acquired nasal and ear infections while on the ship that were complicated on the return plane rides.

service was uniformly outstanding, shows excellent, food varied from good to mediocre. A few days were rough at sea. Left the ship with the worst upper respiraory infection ever - ? influenza. Were there any other reports of similar illness?

To Hawaii and Back by MAW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The 15 day cruise out of San Francisco was a convenient cruise choice because no air travel was needed. The ship and all the ammenities were all that was expected and more. The entire staff on Grand Princess was professional, friendly, and concerned about each passenger. The days at sea were filled with activities that appealed to a wide range of interests. The only problem was the poor weather, which there is no control over.

My First Cruise Even in USA by GangLi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Mexico

My wife and I flew all the way from China to US to join this cruise recommended by my friend. I experienced the wonderful setting and hospitality of the ship, Princess. The food is the most impressive part, not in large quantity but allows one to taste a few different dishes each time. The pace (10-day) was designed very properly to allow one to escape completely from his/her otherwise very busy life.

cruise 1/19/19 by puertorico

Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our steward for Empress 207 was Cyrus and he was excellent in every way. He always greeted us with a smile and was most helpful when we ask for something.. He rated a plus 10 score. We ofter ate in the Horizon Court and Rexy made his job look fun by singing and joking with all patrons. Our favorite place was the ice cream place and the movies under the stars. Thanks to all!!

Great Cruise on Grand Princess! by pmmorris1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Embarkation onto the Grand Princess was a breeze - this was the first time I did not have to wait in an endless line to board a ship. We went directly to our balcony stateroom (Baja deck room 630) which was large and had plenty of storage. The staterooms themselves could use a little sprucing up, but by no means were they in 'bad' shape - just a tad bit worn. These are regular sized balconies, but the great thing is, there is no balcony on the Aloha deck above you. The balconies below this deck are staggered out, so we could see the people on the balconies on Caribe deck and lower. Our room steward, Gemsen Swanson, greeted us with a very warm and friendly greeting and was wonderful through our whole trip. We set sail and tried to familiarize ourselves with the ship. For 16 years old, the ship is in good shape with great common areas. We had late seating for dinner - I think next time I will go with Anytime dining so that we can decide when we go to eat and work that around our ports. We had four in our party and were seated with 2 other couples so always had good conversation. I must admit, the very first night I was not impressed with our dinner and was worried that perhaps Princess food would not live up to what I was accustomed to on Royal Caribbean. However, meals on the 2nd day and beyond were excellent. Our options for appetizers, soups, and entrees was always good and desserts were incredible. My final overall impression of the food could best be summed up as excellent. We only saw one show which was what I would consider comparable talent to other cruises I've been on. The exception is that they had a great pyrotechnic display in this show. We did watch a movie under the stars one night which was fun and is a great touch that Princess offers. They supply chair covers and blankets as it did get cool at night. Popcorn was also available at the ice cream stand -- perfect for watching a movie. We saw the new Batman movie which w

Fantastic Cruise by Mollym193844403

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

This cruise is great for people who want some time to read, knit or just chill. It's the first time I've come back from a vacation and didn't need some time to recover from all the activity. If you are the kind of person who needs a lot of structured activity this might not be for you.
