Review summary

This was my 4th time on the Mexican Riviera cruise. We went as good friends were also going so we wanted to be with them and have some fun, and we did. We met two other new couples who we ll be life long friends.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We got to San Francisco at 10 am from Spokane via Portland only to find out that my luggage had been out on a wrong plane in Spokane thanks to Alaska Air . There were 6 flights that day from Seattle to SF so we waited the entire day to see if it showed up. No such luck. The Princess Ground Transportation crew was amazing as they stayed with us, checking flights and giving me moral support. Finally when my luggage didn’t arrive, they put us in a taxi, they paid the fare and sent us to the port. We arrived on board the ship just as the Muster Drill was beginning. So much for a nice relaxing day on board the ship. We took Alaska as the arrival times were much better.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I had all of my favorite foods in the MDR on this cruise. We did eat at Alfredo’s Pizza which is a favorite of ours.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We are big trivia players so our group ( 4 couples and good friends) played all the time. We also won quite a few games. Most of the quizz shows were good...

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We did go to a Comedian show starring Mike Wilson. He was very good. We saw him twice.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Since I only had the clothes I was wearing, I needed to buy the bare necessities in the shops aboard the ship. The employees were VERY HELPFUL. Also passenger services were wonderful. When my luggage finally made it to SFO , they called to have it for me inPuerto Vallarta when we got there.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Grand has b en in dry dock many times. It is an older ship, but there are some areas especially in The Explorers Lounge ( holes in the floor ) but covered with carpet plus the furniture ( very worn out) that need some immediate attention. I wrote Princess a snail mail to report this problem .

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The size of the cabin was ample, and the arrangement was very nice. The biggest drawback is that The Grand only has half sized closets which I don’t like at all. We had a great room steward who did a wonderful job keeping it clean and comfortable. I requested to have an arm chair. No sooner did I ask, and he ( Joel) had one in th cabin.

Ship tip

I have already mentioned certain things.

Ports of call

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

This was my 4th time here, so we took the city bus and went to Old Ouerto Vallarta for a short time.

Manzanillo, Mexico

The town shopping areas are very small and limited. We were only gone about an hour and half as it was xterm election hot and high humidity.

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
Our group took the ferry over to Stone Island, we just relaxed ate and drank beer. It was a grea Island and would go back again.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3 out of 5
This was my 5th time to Cabo. I knew what I wanted ( a dish). We were no gone for 45 minutes at the most.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We did walk off this time. The worst thing about this day is the elevators. They were so slow and always full. Finally I got on one to go up and then go back down to the deck I needed to be on. By the truth me I got to where to net, our number had already been called to get off.
