Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Drinks were amazing. Done very well! Food was exceptional outside of the experience of poor service in the "Crown Grill/Club Class". We experienced poor service during the dinner hour. A couple came in after us, seated next to us, and was waited on by four waiters. They were very, very attentive to this couple which was very nice except we were not even served water. Their dinner was served before our order was even taken. Thirty minutes later, after sensing our frustration, a waiter, I believe his name was Giovanni, came up to us to say that the couple that was being showered with attention was there for a quick dinner since their child was in the cabin room with their parents and they needed to get back as soon as possible. We are very understanding people BUT, the couple were poured glasses of wine, had dessert, ordered another bottle of wine and was sitting and chatting with the four waiters as we were just served dinner. Poor choice for the waiter to tell a lie in order to appease us. We somewhat finished our dinner and left without dessert. The other couple that were being wined and dined, were still enjoying their evening. Very unhappy with the situation and service. Other than the Club restaurant which I would rate less than one, the other food choices were great. We ended up using room service to ease our frustration. Room service Food and service was wonderful.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Onboard activities were limited. The onboard casino was not pleasurable do to the large amount of smoke. It was so bad that non-smokers could not enter with wheezing. Bingo was very limited within certain hours of the day only. It seemed like the game shows were run by employees that were a little less than happy to be present. If you choose to stay onboard vs. going on shore, the activities were scarce at best. We did enjoy the outdoor movies. A different variety of movies would have been even better. Activities that were held on the Princess Cruise Ship "Hamilton", Deck 7 Aft were very shaky due to it being on the back of the ship over the engine room. Indoor movies Bingo and games were scheduled for that area. It was very hard to participate and/or hear.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Entertainment was mediocre. Needed more upbeat fun. Lighthearted humor, music and audience involved games that were upbeat including more crew members outside of the same three at every show. Also, it would be very nice to have soft music playing on the decks and buffets. It seems very quiet and might add to the zippiness of the atmosphere if music was played.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Outside of the Crown Grill and its extremely poor wait staff, everyone else was very accommodating, polite, happy and helpful. Our cabin Stewart, Roberto L. working Caribe deck 410, was more that helpful and professional. Roberto made our stay with Princess a joyous one.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean. Our cabin C-410 was very clean. The suggestion that I would like to throw in the hat is to place carpet deodorizer in the clothes closet. With everyone's smelly shoes/clothes landing on the floor of the closet added a very musty smell. The cabin was amazing, the tub/shower was lovely and the outside deck was a dream.

Ship tip

Stay away from the smoke filled Casino and Front Desk area! Horrible smell for people with Asthma. I noticed service animals, wheel chairs, walkers and people of many different accomadations for disabilities but when it came to Asthma/breathing problems, inside smoking was allowed. Very dissappointing. I love to gamble but could not step a foot in that area.

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful city but not enough time to explore. We were only there for a very short time. With the requirement of a US passport, we wished that we had more time to see the area.

I'm very surprised to hear about your experience in the Crown Grill as I have never had less than excellent service there. I have never spent the extra bucks on club class, so I have nothing there. As for your other complaints, please contact Princess directly (they have nothing to do with this site) so hopefully others will have a better experience.
