Review summary

Only negative about the cruise was the smoking in the Casino. I understand that smokers should also be able to enjoy their cruise without freezing outside, but smoke often filtered into the theatre which was close by. Wonderful crew, had a fantastic time especially in the Explorers bar which had most of the trivia and karaoke events, which were great fun. We had anytime dining and never had a problem getting a table for four of us, or two if we decided to dine separately. Never had a problem finding somewhere to chill and play cards, or getting a seat in the theatre, although we usually got there about 15 mins before the show. Didn't like the Horizon buffet, found the food to be Luke warm and stale, if we didn't want to use the MDR we either had burgers, pizza and chips from the outdoor area or Alfredo's pizza - all of which were cooked to order. We had the drinks package, which probably "encouraged" us to drink more than we would normally, but boy those cocktails slid down well whilst gazing out of a window

Ship tip

Dark Interior cabin great for long hours of daylight in Alaska, quiet midship cabin , easy access to everything

Ports of call

San Francisco, California

Getting around San Francisco Not sure if this has been mentioned before. We brought a pass from Walgreens for the mummi transport system, this enabled us to go on all mummi transport except the underground/tube as many times as we liked. We paid $33US for 3 days which saved us a fortune as just one trip on a cable car is $7 per trip regardless of how long.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Nice port, although busy as there were four others ships in port. Walked to Creek Street.

Haines, Alaska

Beautiful Alaskan town, but not a lot to do in port if didn't have an excursion to do. Worth a visit but maybe for not as long.

Juneau, Alaska

Another great town, but again busy with several cruise ships. Had helicopter flight to Medeninhall Glacier, expensive but amazing

Victoria, British Columbia

Loved this town, wasn't enough time here only had time to do a hop on hop off bus which showed us how much we were going to miss

As both a smoker and a slot player I agree - generally, the casinos stink. In more ways than two. I refer playing in the nonsmoking sections, and remove myself to smoke in the open air on deck.

I get what you mean. They have smoke free nights, which are a lot better, but it still stinks. But as you said, smokers must be allowed to enjoy the cruise too.
