Review summary
First, the food. The food in the dining room on the first day was completely inedible. Everyone at the table got different things and said the same thing. It remained pretty bad for lunch in the dining room but got really good at dinner every other time we ate there. Tip: if you want medium ask for medium rare. The meat always came out over cooked. Probably from continuing to steam in the containers they bring it out in. The service in the dining room was excellent though. Our waitress was worthy of a 5 star restaurant. She gave excellent meal recommendations and was fun to talk with. I’d recommend doing traditional dining. Everyone in anytime dining complained of long lines. The food was good at the Crown Grill but excellent at Sabatinis. The buffet was always good for breakfast with all the basics. By far the highlight of our cruise was the Naturalist Tess Julianna. It was a great experience to see the glaciers then go to her lectures afterward and learn how they formed the fjords. She was also the host of the LGBT meetings. The shows were surprisingly great. The dancers on this ship were all so talented. The last two shows get quite packed and you will need to get there at least 30 minutes early. We got the beverage package and I think it was well worth it. The days are long in Alaska and the 15 drink limit on alcohol per day is not actually all that much when the day 18 hours long. Plus it includes bottled water which we got each time we passed a bar, coffee drinks and wine by the glass at the wine bar and restaurants. Other tips. Best views from deck 7 forward and aft and the hot tubs at the back of the boat on deck 15. Best pool was the one all the way to the rear since it doesn’t allow children.Embarkation
