Review summary

If/when I sail again, I will ONLY sail with a cruise liner that REALLY offers an “All Inclusive” package price. I have traveled all over the world and stayed at many resorts/hotels and the draw to a cruise vacation is the “All Inclusive” resort pricing concept. When you nickel and dime customers, you lose sight of that and completely discourage people from any future vacations with you. The very unfortunate thing is I really don’t believe you make any more money nickel and diming me than if you charged me everything upfront. I already paid you several thousands of dollars up front when I booked this vacation. I’m very sure you made quite a lot of money on me as is. Sad very sad because I will NOT sail with you again. The cruise itself was lovely and enjoyable but your pricing scheme has completely deterred me from any future sailing trips with your liner.

This is an fascinating thread. I find it interesting that OP started this as a review and turned it into a "letter to Princess". I am not going to attack OP; however, I really want to point out a few things to maybe assist any newbies following this thread. As others have explained, completely inclusive options are available on other lines at substantially higher costs. Of course, there are things that you can do pre cruise to make the experience seem all inclusive. You can buy drink packages, you can pre pay for specialty dining, you can pre pay for excursions and even gratuities. This will transform the experience into more of an all inclusive feel; but, it will be quite costly. Lastly, I have cruised on RCCL, Carnival & Princess and Princess, by far, waa the least aggressive when it came to selling. On both Carnival and RCCL it seemed they were ALWAYS trying to sell me something. The Princess experience was vastly superior in this regard. I wish no ill will toward OP and hope he/she finds a cruise more to their liking and level of expectation.

and another one learns that cruise companies have redefined the term "all inclusive"

Did you not read the FAQ before you went? You can do all inclusive on Oceania or Regent for more than twice what you paid here.

There are cruise lines that are absolutely all inclusive...but they also charge about four times the price...times the price...if you choose to never tip or spend money you can take a cruise and never touch your wallet...there are some extras that I feel are a great value...and I pay it...there are other extras that I am not interested in...so I do not purchase them...if you have no sales resistance then life will be very difficult for you

If you had done any research you would have know what was included with your cruise. Since we really don’t understand what your complaining about, I certainly hope newbies to cruising don’t pay any attention to your comments. Your comments sound like you are talking to Princess, this is Shipmate and it’s not affiliated with Princess. I agree with halfhand, your speaking out of your hind quarters!

I’ve never been in a situation, be it land-based or a cruise ship, where someone wasn’t trying to up-sell something. Just because they try doesn’t mean you have to let them succeed. You still get all your meals, and all your ports, included in the package. The premium experiences are often worth the premiums, but the basic experiences are pretty great too.

All you did was complain about "all inclusive package" but never explained your complaint. Thus by you being unhappy and not explaining your issue, you give everyone reading your post that it's not all inclusive!

thanks for the info

Even "All Inclusive" resorts constantly try to upsell you things. Spa treatments, better dining options, water sports, etc. So, about that you are speaking out of your hind quarters. If you didn't like cruising, that's fine, a lot of folks don't.
