Review summary

This was probably the oldest crowd on a ship that I have ever been on. Luckily I was traveling with eleven people and we made our own fun. Too much trivia and not enough poolside activities. I like the size of the ship. It was easy to get around. The food was good and the staff was friendly.

Our steward cleaned our cabin at least twice a day.

Ship tip

if you are 80 then this ship is for you but if you are a young 70 then go on Norwegian where there is a younger crowd and more activities poolside. Trivia and bingo were the main events on the Grand. Evening entertainment was good.

On our other cruises you would have to get to the pool early in order to get a lounge chair. Not this one. They were mostly empty all day and quiet. No need to go to the adult pools. My husband and I are in our 70's but this crowd was way too old for us. We will sail with Norwegian again where there is a variety of ages and the activities are geared for all ages.

I think you make a great point! If you want trivia and bingo and not so much night life or poolside activities then steer more toward Princess, Holland America and Oceana (so I’ve heard, can’t afford Oceana!) Im gong on a Holland America cruise in a few weeks with my daughter, son in law and some other “over 50 people” I have cautioned my daughter that the crowd might be a little too old for her and her husband on the cruise so we shall see.
