Review summary

Before even leaving for my cruise gave away my reserved (paid in full) balcony stateroom to another customer!  This makes me furious since I booked my cruise more than 6 months in advance!   and Princess played the blame game when I questioned it, absolutely no compensation was made by either party! Needless to say I will never use or Princess again!  They claim to have sent me an email but who cares! There is absolutely no excuse for this, and I feel I should have received a phone call for such an issue!  The cruise itself was nice, but Sucks!

The automatic upgrade is common on most cruise lines...if the cruise is fully booked you won't see it. But if enough cabins are empty they upgrade passengers and then cut the price on the cheaper rooms to move them

What might have happened is that you might have received the automatic "upgrade"...I have had upgrades from an inside to a balcony or mini suite...most of the time it is to a higher price room at an undesirable location...for example I had a balcony midship deck 8 and was upgraded to a balcony deck 14 all the way forward...a cabin they charge more for but that was not in a desirable location for me...so now with my bookings I indicate no automatic and I have instructed my TA to make no changes without my approval...I might miss a great upgrade but there will be no surprises for me either...if you have not told your TA that you do not want automatic upgrades. Do it now

If you had a travel agent, you might want to have them go to bat for you and see what kind of compensation they can arrange. Good luck!
