Review summary
Stunning sites to see in Alaska! We enjoyed both the land and sea portions visiting Fairbanks thenDenali via rail first then taking a bus to Whittier via Anchorage for lunch to board. The only thing I’d change is I would try to take the train between Denali and Whittier instead of the bus. We found the train ride a bit prettier and more comfortable.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
A breeze - I have never had an embarkation that took so little time and effort.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We had one minor issue with a server and it was taken care of quickly, quietly and professionally. From that point on we were made sure to feel like we were at home.
Ice Cream Bar

What a fun treat that everyone - young and old could enjoy every day!!!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Bocce, putting green, pools - including an indoor option, movies under the stars complete with blankets and popcorn, dancing, teen parties, dance lessons, casino, magic show, broadway show, cooking presentation by head chef, 5K Breast Cancer wall on board, karaoke, bingo, scratch cards, lounge singers, shopping, kids center with wii, organized activities and US JR Ranger/National Parks learning opportunities, spa, fitness center, library with books and games for checkout. If you were bored on this cruise you found a way to leave your head/eyes and ears at home!!
Photo Gallery

We didn’t always want our picture taken and the crew was very respectful of that. We also had a budget for our photos that we did purchase and that was no problem, either. Also, if you decide to buy binoculars, do it through the photo shop - much better quality than in the gift shops. We even took a GoPro class with them to help us better video my children’s sporting events and it was so good/helpful we bought the GoPro on board and saved ourselves the taxes!! This area proved to be a gem that surprised us!!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Top notch. There was nothing at all that was cheesy about these performances.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
They all had a great time and even made friends that we continue to keep in touch with.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
A class act all the way around. No request was turned down and issues were handled immediately.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
There was nothing wrong with the ship - it was well maintained, but probably getting close to ready for a refresh.
Cabin / Stateroom

We actually had 2 cabins - B530 & B534 which adjoined via the balcony. It was a great set up with kids. We had the steward open the partition between our balconies with a special key and we chose to leave the sliding glass doors open between our rooms. Anything of value was in the safe or on us anyway. I was a little concerned about this option at first, but it worked out beautifully. The rooms were a good size for 2 and a bit cramped for 3. The worst part was to get a king bed they obviously have a way to push 2 twins together to lock them in place. During the night both my husband and I fell into “the Grand Canyon” in between at various points, which was weird bc the beds were very comfy. Not sure how you solve that issue and keep your flexibility for room setup.
Ship tip
Only about 40% of people adhered to the formal nights. This didn’t bother us, but there is so much to pack for a trip like this I could have forgone the formalwear and not looked back. We wound up needing mid weight jackets for July, but it was unseasonably warm (90*F in Anchorage). Most of the time we were in shorts, but I could see where you would need something more if you cruised earlier in the season.
We did the gold panning, sled dog, -40* experience. The kids all enjoyed getting a taste of Alaskan culture and history and the people who ran it were so kind and helpful.
We did the Foodie Tour here and that was a lot of walking, but well worth it. I would recommend NOT eating breakfast first. We rolled back to the ship stuffed to the gills!!
Lovely town that we enjoy visiting often. Very expensive, in the city. We especially love the outlying areas - Whistler Mountain, the fiords, Golden Ears Park, Harrison Hot Springs, defiantly worth a rental car which we picked up at the airport with our included airport shuttle.
