Wonderful ship and experience! by aadams133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my husband and my first cruise. We took this cruise for our honeymoon and loved every bit of it! The staff was very friendly and there was always something to do. We absolutely loved the islands, especially Grand Cayman. The food on board was very good! We ate in the dining rooms, which are very high class, and also the Windjammer cafe which was very good also and more casual. There is no way someone could be hungry on this ship. We had a great time at the pool and at several shows also.

A WEEK AWAY FROM REALITY by wizard1839

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our getaway cruise began with Lynn McKinney who worked long and hard over a period of time to assure all the items that need to be addressed were completed. My wife and I along with another couple boarded FREEDOM OF THE SEAS on Sunday just in time for lunch. Good food, good company, and very pleasant surroundings. To keep this short and on point, the above statements continued for the next seven /7/ days. We attended GREAT SHOWS and other entertainment such as miniature golf. OUR CABIN ATTENDANT AND WAIT STAFF IN THE DINNING ROOM WERE JUST "FUN" - TASTIC. They made sure we were happy in every way. We swam in the ocean at LABIDEE CAY and never wanted to get out of the water as it was clear and warm. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. All in all a wonderful break in the hum-drum of our normal routine. Try it, you will like it.

Great trip by Cruiser341

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The only problem I have with any of the Royal Caribbean ships is the lack of TV stations that other lines have.  Especially the lack of News!!!  The only news we get is CNN international which is totally lacking in content.  Why not include some other USA based news stations like CNBC or Fox news???  These would keep us informed as to what is going on in the USA.

Impeccable Service and Excursions by hvonoh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time on our cruise! The dining room service and room attendant were exemplary. The stops were amazing and the excursions we booked through Royal Caribbean went beyond our expectations, especially the Double Snorkel / Playa Mia resort in Cozumel.

Cruising as it was meant to be by spinningmarty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Give me a real dining room anytime instead of having to make reservations for different restaurants every night. And then try to schedule around shows you want to see.

From the Cabin attendant to our head waiter, waiter and Asst waiter we felt welcomed and were treated as guests should be and have come to expect on cruise ships. They were entertaining and knew our entire group by name after the first night. The service and the food was excellent

The Freedom is a world class ship, the entire crew made every effort to make this the best sailing. The cleanliness and amenities were the best.

Wish we could have stayed another week. will definetly go back to this ship again

Nice Cruise /Freedom of the Seas by Cruiser825

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was very nice, I just wasn't happy with having to pay for sodas.  The food wasn't very good. The kitchen closed too early. The ship was very nice and the workers was very helpful  and very kind.

Good itinerary, fairly good ship, could be better by ramitpanara

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really liked the itinerary with 1 day at sea in the beginning and end, 4 ports daily in the middle. Ports were early in morning alternating with late in morning so overall worked out well.

Overall ship is good. The promenade, theatre, ice rink, flowrider, rock climbing wall are all really great. Dance venue (Olive or twist) has good location but dance floor is very small. Didn't spend much time in casino. DJs are not that great.

We are vegetarian and food options were terrible for us. Main diner had only one option in starter for most days which included just pieces of mixed fruits on several days and house salad on one day. There was only one vegetarian dish which also was just an excuse for an option. They had linguini pasta as another vegetarian option daily. Similar situation was in the buffet place. They had only salads (who goes to eat that on a cruise!!!) and different kind of bland pastas as vegetarian options. They have 24 hour pizza which never had any kind of vegetarian pizza except plain cheese pizza.

Activities team (cruise director's team)could be better. Love and marriage game show was hit as usual. Entertainment was great. Had one very good and another decent stand up comedian. Freedomice.com skating show is great. However they opened rink only on the last day for people to skate. It would have been better if people could go there and skate on other days as well. Their own production shows were good as well.

Shore excursions were obviously over priced but not necessarily a deal breaker.

An Enjoyable Cruise Aboard Freedom of The Seas by jintsfan10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Freedom of the Seas is a beautiful ship in excellent condition.  While we prefer a smaller ship with less amenities that we do not use (climbing wall, surfing pool, etc) we booked the cruise due to its proximity to our home and the cost.  The food was excellent, the crew was friendly and efficient and the entertainment excellent.  The ice-skating show was a highlight, but we saw the last performance as the group has now left the ship.

Our vacation by Zeusdog11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

After arriving on the ship and checking into our cabin we received news that we were not only at the same table with our party of nine but we were not even on the same floor for our dinner.  We immediately spoke to customer service at who didn't know why.  So we went to the matradee and unfortunately he said he couldn't explain why either and could not change how it was reserved.  We were very disappointed to put it mildly.  Dinner in the dining room would be the one time daily,we would have fellowship with our party of nine and the thought of that not happening was very disappointing.  Two days later we were informed that the matter was resolved luckily, but our impression had already diminished considering the fact that this reservation was made six months earlier and confirmed several times.

It was disappointing that we were not able to stop in Coco Cay but we understood the reasoning, as for waitstaff and housekeeper were exceptional as was the food!

First Time disappointment by abracco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I love to cruise on Royal Caribbean.  This time things were different, and not in a good way.  The fitness center staff was unfriendly, the casino staff was 50/50 and we heard from others that the pool bar staff was no pleasant.  This was the second time we were attempting bahamas and the second time the boat couldn't make it into the bahamas.  Even with these obstacles we had a pleasant vacation and would cruise again.

Freedom of the Seas by EveroseAlexand

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our 7 night Eastern Caribbean Cruise was wonderful. It was everything and more than we had expected.  Jim, our agent, was wonderful in helping us to get everything ready.  He is a ten plus in our book.  Book with Jim and you will not be sorry.

The only complaint we have:  our dinner was ruined every evening except one with an unruly, undisciplined child.    In our opinion, families with small children should be seated in a section separate from seniors and those traveling without small children.  This child was a horrible brat. Otherwise, our cruise could not have been better.

The casino had a horrible odor.  Walking through it caused one's clothes to smell,  There should be a separate casino for smokers and nonsmokers.

Smoking by the pool was a problem.  For nonsmoking cruisers the smell of smoke was nauseating.  The top floor would be a good location for smokers.

Freedom of the Seas...Western Caribbean by Cruiser682

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Housekeeping was phenomenal. Main dining room food was pretty scrumptious. Overall cleanliness we rate a B+. The ship had great shows including comedians, ice skating, etc. On board activities were a little lackluster. A few things of potential interest are a rock climbing wall, flow rider, kids zone, and mini golf. Multiple pools on board, however, they are all in the same vicinity which makes it a little loud and rather crowded.

This was an excellent cruise. Everything from the initial booking of the cruise to the moment we collected our bags at the end went smooth. We will definitely be booking another cruise soon.

Beautiful by rca52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I are in our 60's, and my husband is disabled.  Most of the entertainment was for the younger people and children.  However, our favorite place on the ship was the coffee shop, where we met other couples our age and all kinds of coffee's and teas, with some sweets to go with our coffee.  Do do not waste your money on the specialty dining.  Johnny Rockets, was the only one worth the money.  We still enjoyed our vacation very much, and would go again if we get the chance.

freedom of the seas by gressman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall the cruise was nice. We could not stop at cocoa cay due to weather. Our waiters were really good . John and freddie. Staff went above and beyond. Food was good. Our room was nice but had alot of creaking not sure why. Only issue was with our seapass cards which did not work for 2 days .   Concierge said it was working and then the deck bar said it wasnt working. Eventually got it sorted out. St Thomas was amazing. We hired a nice lady and she had an open air cab and drove us all over the island. I would recommend this cruie but they should have han another stop to make up for cocoa cay. 5 days at sea was too much

We enjoyed the cruise very much, would have liked to have a more tasteful menu option instead having to pay extra for meals that give you the delicious/wow experience.

Freedom of the seas cruise by Cruiser830

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Outstanding cruise except for our evening wait staff.  I don't know if they were over worked or needed more training, we always felt like they wished we hadn't showed up for dinner.  As a result, we ended eating in Chops grille for two nights and the wait staff there were fabulous.
