Exceeded our expectations😊 by dpemerson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have sailed on Royal Caribbean (R.C.I.) in the past and knew they set the bar very high. We have always yearned to sail on the Freedom (but did not due to budget). We should have sailed on her sooner! We enjoyed each and every one of our R.C.I. cruises before with our kids and family and as a couple. The Freedom of the Seas did not disappoint! Every crewmember from cabin steward, waiter, maintenance technician, bar tender, pool attendant and supervisor asked how we were and if there was anything they could do for us and wished us a wonderful day (often calling us by name). The Freedom of the Seas is a well laid out ship and easy to get around. We even worked out everyday in the awesome fitness center!

It is well maintained for being ten years old. The entertainment was world class (ice show especially). The food in the main dining room (Isaac's) was delicious every night and the Windjammer never disappointed....often having a wider selection of diverse foods from around the world (scrumtious and mouth-watering). The western caribbean itinerary (Labadee, Falmouth Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel) our favorite stops were beautiful and fun. Shore excursion guides and attendants went out of their way to be courteous and attentive to each person (bamboo rafting the Martha Brae and SCUBA diving in Cozumel). Needless to say...our expectations were highly exceeded. Darn it that the Freedom is being moved to Europe. We would recommend sailing on her now before you have to fly to Spain to get on board her.👍👍👍👍👍

P.S. only complaint was Customs and Border (Port Canaveral) at the end of our cruise. Long lines (queues) waiting over an hour (appeared to be only too few inspectors for over 3000 guests).

service was wonderful, food was good, loved the promanade "coffee shop", the shows were beautiful, but I would have liked them to have shown them several more times since it was very crowded and could not see some of the due to the crowd. need softer bed pillows, otherwise loved the boat and all it had to offer.

Freedom by jean17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My cruise on May 1 2016 was a great experience.Just a few issues that could or should be addressed.Embarkation went smoothly.

The staff was not real friendly,Not all of them would speak to you if encountered in the hallways or on deck.

We had a leak in our bathroom that took two calls before it was solved

There was a lot of extra charges on the ship. The price of photos was ridiculous.

Eating in the Sabor restaurant was too much for Mexican food.

The casino was so tight you could not win.

Food in the MDR was great. We had a wonderful waiter.

Debarkation was easy.We will probably not use RCCL AGAIN.

We have traveled with RCCL numerous times and for some reason this was one of our best experiences.  Check-in was flawless and we were aboard in no time at all.  The dining room meals were wonderful the entire cruise we usually do not eat in there every night but we did this trip.  This was our first experience with my time dining and I was impressed, we would show up early for our reservation and no questions we were seated.  The shows were very good and the Ice show was fabulous.  We have been to these ports before but we to a snorkel and beach excursion in St. Martin and it was fabulous.  We were well taken care of on this ship everyone was cordial and always had a smile on there faces.  We are looking forward to our next cruise in December on the Oasis of the Seas for Christmas.  Thanks and RCCL!

A Relaxing Cruise by jackmucha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

If you are looking to relax, this is the perfect cruise.  If you are looking for varied activities on the ship, this is not really the place.  The food is excellent but the bar prices are very expensive.

The ship was amazing. There was not many clubs or dancing type bars though. The food was really good as well as the service but would of love to have more comfort old type options.

Relaxing cruise with fun excursions by zanadupee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The interior state room was very relaxing and easy to stay and sleep in. We got a good nights sleep.  During the day, the onboard activities were fun.  Royal Caribbean's private island, CocoCay, was beautiful and fun to be at.  We took two excursions.  First was snorkeling at Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas which was a great value and a lot of fun.   The second excursion  was crewing an Americas cup racing yacht.  What an interesting and fun experience!  The five-day specialty dining package was outstanding! Love the restaurants we love the restaurants with Chef Alexsei!   If you get the chance, you should also do the chefs table! It was amazing!

Wonderful ship and experience! by aadams133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my husband and my first cruise. We took this cruise for our honeymoon and loved every bit of it! The staff was very friendly and there was always something to do. We absolutely loved the islands, especially Grand Cayman. The food on board was very good! We ate in the dining rooms, which are very high class, and also the Windjammer cafe which was very good also and more casual. There is no way someone could be hungry on this ship. We had a great time at the pool and at several shows also.

A WEEK AWAY FROM REALITY by wizard1839

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our getaway cruise began with Lynn McKinney who worked long and hard over a period of time to assure all the items that need to be addressed were completed. My wife and I along with another couple boarded FREEDOM OF THE SEAS on Sunday just in time for lunch. Good food, good company, and very pleasant surroundings. To keep this short and on point, the above statements continued for the next seven /7/ days. We attended GREAT SHOWS and other entertainment such as miniature golf. OUR CABIN ATTENDANT AND WAIT STAFF IN THE DINNING ROOM WERE JUST "FUN" - TASTIC. They made sure we were happy in every way. We swam in the ocean at LABIDEE CAY and never wanted to get out of the water as it was clear and warm. Getting on and off the ship was a breeze. All in all a wonderful break in the hum-drum of our normal routine. Try it, you will like it.

Great trip by Cruiser341

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The only problem I have with any of the Royal Caribbean ships is the lack of TV stations that other lines have.  Especially the lack of News!!!  The only news we get is CNN international which is totally lacking in content.  Why not include some other USA based news stations like CNBC or Fox news???  These would keep us informed as to what is going on in the USA.

We had a great time on our cruise! The dining room service and room attendant were exemplary. The stops were amazing and the excursions we booked through Royal Caribbean went beyond our expectations, especially the Double Snorkel / Playa Mia resort in Cozumel.

Cruising as it was meant to be by spinningmarty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Give me a real dining room anytime instead of having to make reservations for different restaurants every night. And then try to schedule around shows you want to see.

From the Cabin attendant to our head waiter, waiter and Asst waiter we felt welcomed and were treated as guests should be and have come to expect on cruise ships. They were entertaining and knew our entire group by name after the first night. The service and the food was excellent

The Freedom is a world class ship, the entire crew made every effort to make this the best sailing. The cleanliness and amenities were the best.

Wish we could have stayed another week. will definetly go back to this ship again

It was very nice, I just wasn't happy with having to pay for sodas.  The food wasn't very good. The kitchen closed too early. The ship was very nice and the workers was very helpful  and very kind.

Good itinerary, fairly good ship, could be better by ramitpanara

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really liked the itinerary with 1 day at sea in the beginning and end, 4 ports daily in the middle. Ports were early in morning alternating with late in morning so overall worked out well.

Overall ship is good. The promenade, theatre, ice rink, flowrider, rock climbing wall are all really great. Dance venue (Olive or twist) has good location but dance floor is very small. Didn't spend much time in casino. DJs are not that great.

We are vegetarian and food options were terrible for us. Main diner had only one option in starter for most days which included just pieces of mixed fruits on several days and house salad on one day. There was only one vegetarian dish which also was just an excuse for an option. They had linguini pasta as another vegetarian option daily. Similar situation was in the buffet place. They had only salads (who goes to eat that on a cruise!!!) and different kind of bland pastas as vegetarian options. They have 24 hour pizza which never had any kind of vegetarian pizza except plain cheese pizza.

Activities team (cruise director's team)could be better. Love and marriage game show was hit as usual. Entertainment was great. Had one very good and another decent stand up comedian. Freedomice.com skating show is great. However they opened rink only on the last day for people to skate. It would have been better if people could go there and skate on other days as well. Their own production shows were good as well.

Shore excursions were obviously over priced but not necessarily a deal breaker.
