We surprised our kids (didn't tell them until the morning of embarkation) with their first-ever cruise. We had a suite booked so all of us could fit comfortably, and it was a great experience for all of us. Freedom is a great ship -- perfect for families or couples or groups of friends traveling together. Looking forward to the next one!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were booked in a Grand Suite, so the time from arrival at the port to walking on the ship was under 15 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Dinner in the MDR was very good every night; we had Giovanni's one night, and it was fabulous. We have heard complaints from some of the social media groups about a decline in the MDR food quality and service. This is our second cruise this year (different ships), and we have had excellent experience with the food in every dining room and restaurant.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Our kids (10, 12, 15) enjoyed the water slide and the Flowrider as well as the pools and rock-climbing wall.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There wasn't much entertainment on this ship. There were two stage shows which were middling, and one had a ton of technical issues. On previous sailings there were several live music venues and performers, which seemed absent on this cruise.
Children's Programs
The kids didn't participate in any of the children's or teen programs.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our stateroom attendant was excellent. Waiters in the MDR and Giovanni's were very attentive. All of the service was above expectations.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was in great shape.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The GS was perfect for our family of five. Clean, well-maintained, and kept clean throughout the week.
We had a Thrill Island Cabana, which was perfect for us because it gave us a home base for all the day's activities and for relaxing. Our cabana attendant was excellent and took great care of us.
The new port area was very clean and fresh. We didn't take an excursion, but we did walk around Nassau as we usually do when in the port. Some of the shops have closed post-COVID, but the shopping is still pretty good. There was a political demonstration the day we were there, and there was a large police presence, but we never felt unsafe.
