We had a nice experience onboard. The Cabins needed a little bit of work, and there weren't a lot of Family activities. Everything was spread out, and I found myself getting a workout from just walking to the other side of the ship.
Freedom of the Seas Cruise Review to Caribbean - Southern
This was an Amazing cruise. Everything was clean, but overall a little outdated. Most everything was kid friendly. We did not like how there weren't a lot of things for the kids to do, no waterslides, etc. If you want to get away from the world and have family time, this isn't the best cruise for you. We found that everyone wanted to do their own thing, and no one was together. however, it was a great cruise for all people.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation went smoothly and quickly. Be sure to get there early because at the end of boarding there will be a LONG line.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We never dined at the specialty restaurants, because our waiters at the main dining room, Eugene and Elle, were so wonderful, and the food was amazing. The buffet in the morning was Perfect, and it was open pretty early, so that we could get to our excursions earlier. On sea days the Buffet can be very crowded, so I recommend going to the main dining room for lunch. overall, the service and food was splendid.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I personally enjoyed the Rock Wall, and the Flowrider a lot. There were only two pools on the ship, not counting the adults only pool, that were crowded with people on the sea days, or just days in port. The Rockwall would only be open for about 3-4 hours a day, same with the Flowrider, and when they were open, they were crowded. If you want to go on the Rockwall, make sure to look at the cruise compass for the times, and get there before everyone else will show up, which is in the middle.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All of the Performances were absolutely fantastic, Royal Caribbean couldn't have hired better people to entertain. We especially liked the Schooner Bar at night, when a guy would play the Piano.
Children's Programs
2 out of 5
I did not like the Teens Program. Though there were tons of fun things to do in the teen room, no one was ever in there, except for the employees, and if there were people in there, I wouldn't have anyone to talk to.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Excellent Service.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The cabins need to be refurbished. All of the common areas were well cleaned.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
it was a nice size cabin, but all of the cabins needed work on the carpet, and the vanities.
Ship tip
I recommend to go ice skating as a family, it is so much fun, and don't miss the ice skating shows.
we did a rainforest adventure hike, and it was an exercise! though it said moderate expertise, I recommend being in good shape to hike up a steep hill by rope.
We did the Jolly Roger Pirate ship excursion, and we highly recommend this excursion for families. We had the most fun "walking the plank" and swinging of the rope swing into the ocean. The pirate ship also docked above a shipwreck, and that was fun to snorkel over.
