We always enjoy our cruises because it gives us time to relax. We spent more time on our balcony this trip because we really did not like the cruise director and the seemingly larger amount of rude and obnoxious passengers.
We really didn't have any weather issues despite being the first full week of October...a couple showers here and there but we found it refreshing.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We didn't experience any lines, 25 minutes from hotel in old San Juan to sitting on the deck.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
As always the food in the MDR was very good. Our assistant waiter Nelcia was very attentive. The main waiter Neil, not so much. Service in the windjammer was ok and food was ok.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We didn't use any as we really just wanted to relax and catch up on rest this cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The one show and one comedian we went to were very good. Again, we did a lot of just relaxing.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
We are giving this a 4 because the Diamond Lounge staff were so awesome that they made up for how much we disliked the cruise director and the mediocre service of our cabin steward. Anabella and Francisco in the DL made our trip because of how friendly and attentive they were.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It's ready for the dry dock they have it scheduled for coming up later.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Our cabin was nice and was kept clean. We had to steal tissue boxes from other area's because our cabin steward couldn't seem to get them for us... ever.
Ship tip
We can honestly say that our biggest complaint about this cruise was the clientele on board. No common courtesy, rude and obnoxious. We did meet some very nice folks who had a lot of the same complaints but might sail from other locations to go to the same ports in the future.
The first thing is that it was advertised that we would be in port for about 12 hours and we only ended up staying for about 8 or so. We didn't have any excursions planned but just walked around. We describe it as a poorer Aruba which is just our opinion from walking around the port area.
We arrived a couple days early and stayed in Old San Juan. We spent a whole day just walking around and eating at small, out of the way restaurants which were all very good.
Almost always a pet peeve... not sure why some ports let you clear customs before getting your bags and some after getting them. Signage is not clear so we were happy we got a porter who knew what he was doing - here got us right through customs and to a taxi. It took about an hour from when we got in line to leave the ship to arriving at the airport.
I'll be on the same itinerary next year after the drydock, so I really appreciate your review. Too bad that you didn't enjoy your cruise as much as you wanted, but it sounds like you made the best of it.
