Review summary

Excellent cruise for families. Very clean ship great amenities. Don’t expect much from the shows.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We arrive at 12:30pm and the line was very long. The check in process lasted almost one hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The service in the main dinning room was not as good as other RC cruises.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pools were great as well as the flowrider. People and staff were very friendly. There was not a farewell party in the lido deck during the first night!!!

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The shows were very disappointing, I cannot say there was an awesome show thru out the cruise and we went to all of them. The only show that was pretty ok was the second night which the two performers (couple) were very good. The music at Boleros was awesome, as well as the piano man. Regarding the DJ at the 14th floor, it was not as expected. The Cruise Director did not made a click with any of our group, she was extremely British for our taste in terms of her style; she was ok but not as fun as other CD in other ships.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service in the main dinning room was not as good as prior ships and the waiters did not created a chemistry with us. The room steward was great as well as other ship personnel, except the Loyalty Program staff who were not very polite.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved the layout of the ship. My only remark is that the Solarium was not as peaceful as other cruises.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The bathroom and the shower needs to be completely refurbished.

Ship tip

You’ll have a lot of fun, huge ship with an easy distribution of amenities. Very friendly staff and clean ship. Don’t expect too much from the shows.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
The best port of the entire cruise, there is so much to see, Old San Juan is beautiful, it’s like being in Spain with friendlier people. San Juan is to spend at least two days. We felt very safe walking in the streets of Old San Juan. The night life at the Condado area is amazing with a lot of fine restaurants; we loved the local food, don’t miss the “mofongo” with “churrasco” with rice and beans.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Very nice port of call and the people are very friendly. Nice place for shopping in the little town next to the ships.

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
It was ok, not a place for shopping. Go direct to the beach!!!

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5
Beautiful beaches and friendly people. Must be careful with some locals who were not friendly offering marihuana in the beach.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
We had a great time at the beach, although the beaches are not as beautiful as the beaches in St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Puerto Rico.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and fast.

Freedom of the seas is going into dry dock in either January or February, I believe. We loved the ice show. Our mdr wait staff bent over backwards for us. We were on freedom in April and had a very enthusiastic cruise director. We too felt the ship had a good layout. We're going back on Oasis of the seas as that has been our favorite ship, so far.
