Review summary

We had an amazing time. This was our first cruise, and it was really an amazing trip! We couldn't be happier. I was a little concerned before we left because of some other people's reviews, but I've come to the conclusion that those people are whiners and nothing would have satisfied them. This is not something we are able to do often, in fact this is the first long trip we've ever taken together out of the country, and we saved up for it. I really can't think of one thing to complain about, it was simply an amazing trip. I'm a recharged mama.

Although the line was long, it was FAST

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Everything was amazing! There were a few things I didn't like, but it was more a preference than anything.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My husband and I used the fitness center daily and really liked it! I tried a few classes, and while small, still effective. My husband used the weights and was quite pleased (and he's hard to please)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedy shows were amazing! I went to the ice show and was underwhelmed, but again, I think that was more a preference thing.

Service and Staff

Our waiters were AMAZING. Our room steward was AMAZING.

Ship Quality

Everything was well maintained and clean, no issues whatsoever.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was perfect for us! We are both tall and the bed was very comfortable! The size was great.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

No excursion, we flew in a day early and just walked around and went to dinner. Our hotel was in Old San Juan.

Willemstad, Curacao

No excursion. Just walked around and had lunch, then went back to the ship for a long nap.

Oranjestad, Aruba

BEAUTIFUL! Aruba was our beach day. No excursion planned so we just started walking, turns out we were walking in the wrong direction ha ha! Found some cool lizards though. Got a taxi cab and she directed us to Palm Beach. The water was AMAZING. the sand was AMAZING. We went to the restaurant on the pier and the food was really good.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

We did a dolphin encounter at this port, it was so much fun! The only thing we didn't care for is they GAUGE you on the pictures! They tell you in advance that you can't take your own pictures, but they also don't tell you how much they are going to charge for pictures. It was A LOT. But it was worth it and we had a great time.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

This was our favorite port. We went on a Sail and Snorkel to Buck Island. I recommend this excursion SO MUCH. We saw so many turtles! Our captain and his helper were amazing!

Disembarkation

SO MANY PEOPLE, but that's to be expected. Everything was still organized good. The only thing I didn't like is how many people were at the buffet for breakfast, way too many people in one spot STIFLING, but again, it's to be expected. Our number got called early, we went down to get our bags and were out the door and in a cab within a half hour. We were quite pleased.

Glad that you had a great time and thank you for the detailed information that explained what you experienced. Our first Royal Caribbean cruise was also on Freedom of the Seas and we've been back on her for a total of 5 wonderful cruises. There are other Royal ships that we really like and would go on anytime but Freedom of the Seas for us is the perfect size, too big to do everything in a week, but still easy to get around on and to have crew know you by name and preferences.
