Overall, we had a wonderful time on this ship and itinerary. Don't let my negative comments on some of the aspects of the cruise stop you from taking this ship in the future, We will certainly go on it again. Nobody's perfect.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
A little to much walking for us old folks but OK.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Overall the food was very good to excellent in the main dinning room, good in the buffet. The buffet's leftover beef, hidden in all kinds of different gravy's, was tough as leather. Looked good until you tried chewing it. Bring your floss if you want to give it a try. The chicken and pork were always tender and tasty. Only had a few of the very expensive drinks.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
A fun ship with lots to do, especially if your younger than 60 and active. It was fun watching the younger ones challenge the activities at the different venues.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Pretty good entertainment with various types of shows, not the same old stuff over and over again. The ice show was very good.
Art Gallery
3 out of 5
We went to all the informative art seminars/"infomercials" that were available during the week and actually enjoyed them. However, we did not take part in the overpriced "Fine"??? art auctions.
Children's Programs
Didn't have children with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This ship was right up there for service! Excellent especially in the dinning room and Buffet. Our wait staff of was outstanding. Mohammad and Jiang Jic (sp) at table 439 were great!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Not so good. The third deck is poorly designed requiring everybody needing to get from one end to another to change decks up or down to get to the opposite end. Your health is at risk when going through the smoke filled casino to get anywhere on the fourth deck. The Promenade on the fifth deck was an obstetrical course with all the "sidewalk" sales they had virtually every night.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We liked the use of shower doors instead of curtains. The shower head was fantastic. Otherwise the cabin was a standard cabin. Oh, two separate beds are recommended to give you room to move in the main area.
Ship tip
Take in all the activities whether or not you actually participate in them.
Walked the non-tourist streets, toured two churches and their cemeteries to get a feel for the Island's people and culture. Bought some local rum for 8 bucks a bottle that is very good.
We've been here at least twenty times. The downtown area is in bad shape. This is the best island to buy booze with the largest selection and lowest prices. They always sell for less than their posted prices.
Way too much walking for so little. Can't compete with Holland America's Half Moon Cay. The only thing going for this stop is watching the people that were crazy enough to pay $105 to ride one minute on a zip line. That right $105 a minute!!!!! A lot of people were doing it??????????
Great review, we really liked that you separated your recommendation of the cruise from your noting of the negatives. We really enjoy this ship but we also agree with some of the things you noted like the obstacle course on the Promenade during the sales.
