Absolutely incredible trip, but no longer a fan of RCI.

Review summary

Europe is incredible and we are already looking to book a cruise out of Venice. However, I will probably not sail with RCI again. They seem to be going way down hill where as the other mainstream cruise lines are improving. The last Carnival and NCL cruise we went on were much better experiences on board.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDR was very good to excellent, but the buffet was poor to very poor.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Same old, same old just less of it. It was just pretty boring on the ship itself. Piano bar was fun, but got old since that was the only thing to do at night. No night club at all.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Again, just boring. Walked out of most shows. Come on, Once Upon A Time. Really? Same show for over 10 years?

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Very hit or miss, some really good some really bad.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Showed some wear and tear and smelled like a sewer in some of the halls.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Our bathroom was terrible. Showing was peeling and toilet only flushed periodically. Hall way smelled like a sewer.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Loved Barcelona.

Marseille (Provence), France

4 out of 5
Went to Cassis through a ship excursion. Not worth $80 for a bus ride, but had a good day.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

5 out of 5
Both Villefranche and Nice were great. Very easy and inexpensive to take the bus to Nice, but of course, the ship would not tell you that. They want to sell you something.

La Spezia, Italy

5 out of 5
Loved Cinque Terre. Very easy to take the train.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
Had a great private driver for 6 of us, but this was my least favorite port. Not what I expected. It seemed dirty and a little disappointing. I found it tacky to walk out of the Vatican into a McDonalds or a lingerie store.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Amalfy Coast was amazing.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No problems

Absolutely! Everyone is different and looking for different things! I personally prefer Royal but that's just my opinion.

Lots of cruise lines to choose from. You have to go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Good luck on your next cruise.
