Review summary

The cruise was ok if you really didn't want to go to where you were supposed to go. First we left 4 hours late, while going to our room a lady in a scooter ran over my toe. No one in charge just everyone crowding onto the elevators. While waiting I went to the customer services and asked for a deck of cards, was told they were all out. So off we go and we where told the first stop was cancelled because they were afraid of the weather so we chug on going so fast in a calm sea that everyone was sea sick. The last day before port I went to medical because by now my toe was black. The doctor gives me some pills and says no charge just see your own doctor. Is that night I go and settle up the trip. I ask if the bills were complete and I was told yes. Just to make sure I told them of the medical visit. They checked and said no charge. A month later they take $150. Dollars from my checking account. I appealed and they put it back. A couple weeks go by and they take it out again. This time they just keep it. It's a shame that they had to rob a disabled handicapped couple of that money. They wouldn't miss it but it meant a lot to us on the disability. If I ever cruise again it will not be Royal Caribbean, Freedom of the Seas.

Ship tip

Be careful in the elevators. Don't act like something's wrong because they dump the whole corporate mess on you. The staff is first rate.

I was on the Oct 16th cruise and had my toe broken by another passenger (who didn't even stop to say "sorry" or see if I was ok as I was doubled over in pain, but that's another story). The ship doctor was fantastic - sympathetic, funny and a great attitude. He did xrays, wrapped my toe and gave me pain meds. I wasn't charged - I assume because it was caused by another passenger? Even the chief security officer came down and asked me questions about it. Everyone treated me and my family very nicely. I had 3 phone calls to my cabin throughout the week from staff, asking if I was doing ok and if I needed anything. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff on FOS.

Ouch. Spending $$like that would suck. Which port did you skip? Was it due to damage from hurricane matthew?

If it's caused by the ship, it's free...that's the way we understand it anyway.

I'm not sure. I know mine covered 22000. Of her 66000. Bill. But it did not cover the ship Dr till I sent them the bill. But unless you get a first payer travel insurance. You have to pay up front.

So if you take out the insurance does seeing the Dr onboard free?? Our carnival rep said its covered.

I have never heard a doctor say their services are free. Just doesn't make sense. How can they justify their existence?!?! There has to be a charge for all services.

Wow, guess you already called the cooperate. We were on Freedom 3 times. Last time my wife had to stay in the medical unit overnight. Great Dr's. We then we're removed from the ship the next morning to ambulance to Costa Med medical center for emergency surgery. Now that cost me $1000. But well worth it. Sorry you had an issue
