Review summary

This was our 2nd time on the Freedom and our 10th cruise with RC which finally put us into Diamond Status.  We had a Jr. Suite which was excellent.  We only got off at Labadee as we wanted to see the changes that RC made there.  Labadee has come along way since we were last there.  Don't really like the Western Route ports so we stayed on-board and enjoyed the ship.  Don't remember the Adult Solarium Pool being heated before but this time it was and it was perfect just to hang around in the pool.  Jasmine our room attendant was very nice as well as Shasha Sun (asst waiter) and Chester Norman our waiter.  Couple we sat with had two children, one of which was a diabetic.  Something I've never seen before, the Head Waiter took this child under his wing and had the chef prepare special meals for him.  He even cut his meat each night.  Don't remember his name but that guy got a WOW Card from us.  Couple of other observations.  Be careful using the prepaid gratuities as there are many stories on the internet that RC holds a lot of these gratuities back from their employees for very minor infractions.  We always pay cash right to the individuals.  Another concern is security for the ship while docked/tendered in other ports.  If you notice, while the ship is in a US port, there is always patrol boats around the ship making sure no other boats get close to it.  You don't find that in any of the destination ports, in fact, there are 15-20 small boats all around the ships, especially in Cozumel.  Not good.  Another observation, Port Canaveral has been complete redone.  RC has built a brand new terminal with parking garage that is very easy to get in and out of.  Carnival Cruises now uses the old RC terminal.  The Oasis of the Seas will be coming to Port Canaveral next year and the Freedom will be moving on.  Can't wait, as Oasis is our favorite ship.    Lastly, we booked another cruise on the Harmony of the Seas for next Oct 2016.  This will be our first transatlantic around the Mediterranean and then off to Ft Lauderdale.   It's another brand new Oasis class ship launching in June 2016 and will be calling Ft Lauderdale home port.

Ship tip

Good relaxing Cruise. Smoked Salmon has been removed from the buffets in both the Dining Room and Windjammer for Breakfast and Lunch. You need to ask for it and then wait 5-10 minutes for them to get it for you. RC, Please put it back on the buffets!!!
