A relaxing start to 2015!

Room Type: Inside

We have been on many cruises before, including RC's Oasis of the Seas. Freedom is a somewhat smaller ship and lacked the feeling of spaciousness the Oasis had. Still, it was a fun experience with plenty to do for all ages. There were some unique features such as the gothic style nightclub, and mini golf on deck, along with old favorites like the rock climbing wall, flow rider and ice skating rink. As with any large ship, there were issues finding a deck chair in the sun and waiting in long lines, particularly when embarking and debarking the ship.....that could have been done more efficiently but it certainly did not spoil the fun of the entire trip! The western Caribbean itinerary was great for relaxation, and especially valuable for scuba divers and snorkelers because of the beautiful reefs at those locations. Food was good.....we did "my time dining" which was fine after the initial glitches were worked out (we did not know that daily reservations are highly recommended)  One improvement i would suggest would be for some activities for the 18 to 20 age group, as they are too young for the alcohol-oriented activities but too old for the teen clubs. Overall we were very happy and returned home well rested and suntanned.

Ship Quality
the "little sister" of the Oasis
Food and Dining
reservations are a must for "my time" dining!
Cabin / Stateroom
for inside cabins they were larger than expected.
Service and Staff
overall very friendly and helpful
Onboard Activities
except if you are 20 years old......there was always something to do. Need more activities for young adults under drinking age.
Destinations and Excursions
great, except that 2 excursions were cancelled due to spending less time in port than we had planned. That was unfair to those who booked the trip specifically to do that activity....there was no time in cozumel to scuba dive or see Tulum bc we had to be back on the ship in a few hours. This was not what was on the itinerary.
Port Canaveral, Florida
visit Kennedy Space Center on your way to the airport! They do offer an excursion with airport transfer if you book a later flight.
Cococay (Cruiseline's Private Island)
Yoga on the beach was offered thru the fitness center....a wonderful start to a relaxing day on the beach. BRING CASH for the straw market on the island. There are a few shops run by RC that will take your cruise card, but the local shops require cash.
Montego Bay, Jamaica
excursion to Dunns River Falls....(excursions are also available on the island) Climbing the falls is a must do experience if you haven't done it.
George Town, Grand Cayman
great diving spot....also good for snorkeling. Stingray City is also a great experience.
Cozumel, Mexico
a fun place with lots of shopping and local restaurants. Our excursions were cancelled due to decreased time in port, which was a big dissappointment. It had something to do with the ship being behind schedule.

Make reservations DAILY for my time dining!
