Review summary

We had a wonderful time on Freedom of the Seas. The service was great and the ship was very clean and beautiful. Loved the Chops Grille restaurant. We had 3 of our dinners at Chops and 1 at Portofinos. I highly recommend both.  My husband and I cruised on the Allure last year and we still rave to everyone about how wonderful that ship is and how much we loved it.  Freedom of the Seas is a step down from the Allure but is still a really nice ship.

We only did one excursion. We went to Sapphire Beach for a couple hours stay. With the limited port time at St. Thomas, everybody tries getting off the ship at the same time creating lots of congestion. People who book excursions on the ship are moved to a holding area off ship til everyone is accounted for in your particular excursion. This delays the start by a half hour or so. My recommendation is to get your own taxi. There's no waiting for them and you'll get more time to do what you want to do. I've added photos of the beach. The excursion included free lounge chair and snorkel gear plus a rum drink at the beach. You're better off paying for what you want when you get there. There was not much rum in the drink anyway. The scenic drive back to the ship was also not worth anything. You saw nothing pretty til you get to the top of the ridge where you can look down on the ships in port. Again I'd rather stay on the beach an extra half hour than to stop for 5 minutes for an overlook of the ports. The beach was fine otherwise.
