Will remember our first ever... by Brookstribe

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Will remember our first ever cruise because of the great crew and staff on Explorer of the Seas. The balcony room was so worth a few more dollars. Great food in the Sapphire Dining room and the cafe had great coffee and treats. Best servers ever.

Amazing Alaskan Adventure! by BrendaAnne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We really enjoyed our first cruising experience, and getting our first glimpses of beautiful Alaska. The Explorer staff made us feel welcome, and as soon as we disembarked we missed their friendly greetings and smiles. We would definitely recommend this cruise, and if you go, I hope you get to see the stunning Dawes Glacier and the icebergs!

Not that Royal by marywardd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Found buffet food and pizza/sandwiches if inferior quality. Dining room food was excellent. Casino bar friendly but other bar tenders were not. Did not like to serve you if you had Deluxe Drink package. Spa hairdresser was a snob n was upset I didn’t buy all the pro sects he set in front of me. I found him very rude

Wonderful Alaskan crude by hanandty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

If you're looking for a wheelchair accessible cruise, this is it. I'm in a manual wheelchair and I could get around the whole ship with ease. The staff is extremly anxious to help and are happy to help. My wife and I loved every moment of it. It is hard to find a good vacation that is completely wheelchair accessible..... but this one hits the nail on the head. It was better than we expected.

Worth it for Alaska by Seastheday164

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We loved the stunningly beautiful landscape of Alaska and British Columbia and had fun adventures in the ports of call (whale watching in Juneau, dog team ride in the Yukon). The international staff on the ship was attentive, friendly, and cheerful. The evenings shows were fun, and the hipster cruise director was very entertaining. The ship is older and showing signs of wear, but it is kept very clean. Our cabin was comfortable and had good storage. Unfortunately, the food in both the main dining room and the Windjammer buffet was uniformly mediocre. Many of the meat entrees were overcooked and rubbery, the menu choices were not appealing, buffet items were sometimes undercooked and cold, and desserts were a bland waste of calories. I suspect that RC is intentionally using lower quality ingredients to force people to upgrade to specialty dining. RC should step up its food service or will lose customers. One note about Victoria: skip the expensive Grayline bus tour because the route is too long and the buses infrequent. Do some advance research to pick an area for shopping and dining and take a cab or uber there. Or just enjoy the downtown architecture and visit the museum.

Gorgeous sunny weather all week made this a great first cruise. Crew and staff were pleasant. The beverage and photo packages were worth it.

We loved going on Explorer... by murstim1

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

We loved going on Explorer of the Seas! The staff was very friendly, the food was great, the entertainment was very good, and our steward was awesome! The excursions we went on were fantastic. We went whale watching in Juneau, and boarded a train in Skagway to see the beautiful scenery. Going through Tracy Arm Fjord was really cool! We saw icebergs (some blue, some white), and saw Dawes Glacier. In Juneau, we got to see Mendenhall Glacier up close. It was amazing. This ship and itinerary are highly recommended!! 😁

We had a great cruise,... by Kpac7

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

We had a great cruise, but if just reviewing the ship...ship is showing wear. Nitpicky.....walls dinged up all over ship, broken closet door in room. They must not be replacing furniture currently, there were metal prep tables from the kitchen being used as tables in the windjammer, chairs from the mdr. At least once a day the toilet in our cabin wouldn't flush for about an hour (deck 7). We'd call, each time we were told it was maintenance. Entertainment was only so so. Food was ok to good depending on the meal, nothing bad to say. Overall, it was just ok. Staff was always friendly, helpful. Our mdr waiter had too many tables at the same time , he was trying his best.

Great cruise experience and amazing service from all of the staff. The port calls were very different from those in the Caribbean. I can say enough about the glaciers and mountains!

Wonderful Alaskan cruise by thekillerbees

Great experience other than our cabin problems for seven days. They should not let other guest use this cabin especially when the staff already knows the problems with this room.

Crowded ship, stunning ports of call by Hardcase

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Port of Seattle is much more friendly, clean and efficient than the Port of Galveston which we usually use. The customs and security process is much faster. Cruises to cooler climes have a big problem in my opinion . . . the ships are designed to spread the passengers all around the ship to avoid over crowding. But northern cruises often encounter cool weather, even when the weather is better than normal, it’s just not swim and suntan friendly in Alaska . . . so the guests mostly stay inside . . . making conditions much more crowded than with cruises to warm latitudes. All the Royal Caribbean ships I have sailed on are designed for Caribbean type cruising . . . and, in my view, they do not adapt well to cool weather cruises because they feel so confining and crowded.

Alaska and Victoria British Colombia were awesome by anitalross

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The food is much better on the Carnival ships i have been on. It was so frustrating for them to sell you a drink package for some $70 + tax and then they never had any kind of soda except orange and flavored water. When they sent you to a bar tender to fill your glass, the bar tenders were not happy or nice about having to fill you coke cup. There were multiple times and many many passengers complaining about the drink situation. Even in the Windjammer the machines were empty. I have asked for a refund for all drink packages.

Fun by ekseadoo22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

My wife and I enjoyed ourselves on the Alaskan cruise Exployer Of The Seas ship. It is a very nice ship to stay on. We ate at the Promalade Cafe but weren't too impressed with the Pizza there. It was like eating a piece of cardboard. Little Ceasars is a step up from it and that is saying a lot. Our room was nice but we were disappointed on the virtual scenery because on the website it looked like it was going to be the whole wall but it was actually really small. I wouldn't waste your money on that type of room. We ate at the main dining room restaurant which is called Wind Jammers. It is a buffet and the food was really good and if you were lucky you could sit by the window to look out into the sea (nice view). In fact we booked another cruise on board the ship to a warmer place.
