Fantastic trip. Plan for cold weather even in July! We had insulated jeans, hats and gloves. We had to buy a heavier coat onboard.

My mom is an RCC Diamond member, so there was no line. We got our Seapass cards created and walked right out to the ship.

Food and Dining

We enjoy the speciality restaurants. Very good food and service. At Chop's Grille, we had a female waiter that seemed to get her tables filled behind all of the male waiters. She was trying and it was clearly not her fault. Also, the Windjammer needs to have actual salad and not all of the different ethnic kinds either. I mean lettuce, cheese, vegetables, ranch dressing. The Main Dining Room Lunch Sald Bar was fantastic! Main Dining breakfast was fantastic! Main Dining Room dinner was marginal at best. The food we got was good, but 25 mintues waiting for dessert was not good. We got up and left!

Cruise Director was fantastic! The singers and dancers were great! Loved the comedian and also Leo Ward the Magician. We attended both of his shows and I am still scrtaching my head. The humor combined with the illusions is the best I've ever seen!

Our room steward was wonderful! Extra pillows and ice replace daily. The shopping consultants were great!

Explorer needs a little work here and there, but overall she is still an RCC ship
Loved whale watching and the Mendenhall Glacier. Everyone must eat at Tracy's King Crab Shack. Best price and best crab legs in Alaska. Allow for plenty of time to partake. We easily could have gotten left behind.
Butchardt gardens was beautiful. If you want to have high tea at the Empress Hotel, book your reservation online through Open table months in advance. It was wonderful and is now checked off my bucket list! It is a long walk from the Empress (45 min) to the pier. Pay the mone and get the shuttle or that 25 minute walk they claimed onboard must be for those who ran the whole way.
I think it all depends on where you’re from. We’re from upstate NY and sailed in late May. We were totally fine in a T-shirt and sweatshirt but there were people with us from Texas that had parkas on. The temps were in the low to mid 50s. It’s all relative to what you’re used to 😁
