Explorer of the Seas is an excellent ship, there was a good choice of ports visited, and the shore tours were good. Service levels were absolutely excellent. However, the majority of passengers we taked to agreed with us that the food did not meet cruise standards of excellence. On several occasions the dishes served us were so bad they had to be returned. It amazed us that the Executive Chef had nerve enough to try to sell cookbooks.

Great time had by all by MarkM19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

We traveled on a nine day cruise from Bayonne, NJ on Explorer of the seas. The boat was in great shape. I was surprosed to find it was seven years old. Thefood in the main dining room and the service was uniformly excellent night after night. The room service breakfasts (we had almost every morning) were delivered on time with a friendly call a few minutes before delivery that we used as a wake up call a few mornings. The shore trip to St. John's was a repeat for us and was great. Trunk Bay deservedly ranks as one of the top ten beaches in the world. We did a shore excursion to St. Martin's Orient Beach as well. The beach was nice but we were not given as much time to explore the city as I would have liked. We did Bermuda and San Juan on our own. The ship did not provide information on where to go on the islands except for shopping. I think they should have an orientation presentation in addition to shopping. Overall a great time for us and our fanilies.

Glad to be Home by LisaB20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Very disorderly upon arrival back to Bayonne, Staff complained about being tired and ready for some time off, not at all like Carnival where staff was always "on" to insure that the guests were having a great time. Left a beach bag in my state room, Lost and Found not only rude but very nonchalant and flip. Saw Jr cruise directors complaining. Definetely not the Fun Ship!

Last week we took nine couples from our company on the Explorer of the Seas. The ship was gorgeous and filled with many wonderful things to keep everyone busy and happy! The balcony rooms and suites that we had were well appointed and spacious. The food and entertainment were top notch. We would recommend this to anyone planning a corporate trip.

A new perspective on maximizing fun! by LisaR16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Wow! The ship was very large and technically sophisticated, but very eloquently decorated and meticulously clean. The crew and staff were friendly, courteous, outgoing, and went to extremes to assure that our sailing experience was positive. The staff were very organized with the check-in and check-out processes. The captain updated the ship's passengers several times each day on the weather of each port, ship activities, and other relevant information. The food was excellent along with the dining room staff in assuring that all of our meals met or exceeded our expectattions. Low-calorie, low fat, and healthy selections available at the Windjammer Cafe and The Island Grill made dining not only a pleasure to taste, but perhaps more importantly, I didn't gain the weight that I thought I might with this cruise! There were so many scheduled activities onboard the ship as well as available onshore excursions that there was always something going on for all ages. There were also numerous lounge chairs available to soak in the sun and the sea air, and to relax and enjoy the live music and the spectacular views. I was very impressed with my entire cruise experience and would highly recommend sailing on Explorer of the Seas to everyone that expects an extraordinary vacation that is not only incredibly fun and exciting, but affordable as well. This is my first time sailing with Royal Carribean and I must say that I will be back for another cruise in the near future!

alright cruise/wouldn't go there again by BelindaP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the rooms are nice, not enough dance places- mostly piano, jazz, martini room we we're both so sick 1st 3 days. didn't go out of the room' our guy hat cleaned our room was great though. he really disinfected it if we left even for a min. the only good port was casa mays, the other ports weren't nice at all. exspecially where we poryed at. the other cruise line had better places to port at. like carnival in caymon island. i always loved your ship that in 5 years i have been on them 5 times. but with us both sick really for 6 of 7 days----but couldn't go out the 1st 3 days was bad. the food was the same almost everyday to order in the room because we we're to sick to go out. then we still didn't go to captain dinner until the last 2 days because we we're sick so i would try to go to the other resturaunt always the same food. i was very disapointed. i talk everyone into going to your cruise lines. my whole soft ball team went a couple years ago. but i don't think i'd recommend it again.

Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have cruised before (with other cruiselines)and this time, because we have heard lost of good things about RC we chose to do so. We chose Explorer of the seas because of the ports of call. Belize was one of the ports we wanted to visit and we had a blast!! Overall the cruise was great! The ship Explorer of the seas was beautiful! The Promenade deck was our favourite spot and also we relaxed with our cocktail of the day in the jacuzzi's on deck eleven "the Solarium"! Service on the ship was in one word...............SUPER! We would recommend this cruise and this ship to everyone!!

Fantastic family vacation by JoyceI

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our overall impressions of the ship was that it was a fantastic floating hotel with excellent accomodations. It had everything a person could ever want from a shopping mall, spa, pools, restaurants, and every type of entertainment imaginable. One could do as little or as much as they wanted to. Rooms were very quiet.

A wonderful 30th Wedding Anniversary by TraceyS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean, but the first time on The Explorer of the Seas. We had a wonderful time and the ship was terrific. We actually celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary while on the ship. The cruise director was the best we ever had and we hope to sail with him again. Our Waiter, Asst. Waiter and Head Waiter were great. Our Cabin attendent was also terrific and had our room cleaned by the time we finished breakfast. every morning. We would highly recommend Royal Caribbean and have many times. I can't wait for the next cruise.

Our Best Ever! by ValA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The size of the ship was great, we actually never got to see the whole thing in a week. Even with the size of the ship and amount of passengers, we never once waited in a line for anything!. That was amazing to me as I have been on much smaller ships where I've waited to depart at each port. The dining room was excellent, wonderful meals, presentation was great and the staff was always smiling!. The linens on the bed were always fresh, brilliant clean and very comforting. The only unsatisfactory thing we could come up with was the entertainment. Comedians were good but we found the ships singers and dancers to be minimal at best. Would be great if Casino was a smoke free area, it was a deterent to gamble in the smoke and even uncomfortable to have to walk thru when on the way from one end of the ship to the other. Overall, This was our fifth cruise, not our most expensive, but definetly our favorite ship.

The ship was very nice, well maintained etc. The food was wonderful. The decks, pools, ship equipment was all great and really beyond expectations. The ship looked relatively new maybe because of the exceptional maintenance.

Overall a very nice cruise by LaraineM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Love the center promenade of the ship, the dining room food and staff were wonderful, felt the quality of the food in the Windjammer wasn't as good as on past Royal Caribbean ships - Found the extra charges for anything of "quality" to be offensive after paying so much for the cruise alone, i.e. Seattle Best coffee, Ben & Jerry ice cream, fine dining - Portofino Rest., a $3.95 service charge per person to eat lunch at the Johnny Rockets - I think Royal Caribbean is getting a bit nit picky But, the ice show was absolutely out of this world - what talent!! We also enjoyed the singer & dancers - they also had one very good comedian - the show on the last evening was just ok.

Excellent Cruise Experience by EdwardJ3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Voyager is a first class cruise ship with modern facilities and a well designed configuration. The main promenade deck and range of entertainment and lounge facilities offered every one a choice. Main Dining Room and Windjammer service and food quality are top notch. Table Waiter and Asst. were very personable, friendly and accomodating.

It's fun to be diamond. by BobJ7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a first time on the Exlplorer, but have been on other Voyager class ships and this one was just as nice as the others. The dinning room staff and meals were wonderful. We like how they always remembered our names and what we drank at dinner. Everything was served hot and cleared away when finished. We never felt rushed or delayed. We never sent anything back, we have on other ships. The breads and soups were outstanding. As far as the shows are concerned, The ice show was so great we saw it twice. The other shows were wonderful as well. The theater was comfortable and had great views from any seat. We are Diamond and we enjoyed the special treatment we received. The Conciearge Club was a wonderful place to stop before dinner. Anything we asked Paul he did with a smile. The last 3 cruises we have taken before this one was on Costa, and we were very glad we came back to RCL. We are already planning our next cruise and we hope to take RCL again. PS The new way of picking out photos was great! Now you have to cross-out one of the ten most asked questions, "How do I know which pictures are mine?" Bob from Florida

Modest but, not the best! by VickiN1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on three previous cruises, the ports of call on this ship are great , but, I have found the communication with the cruise director very lacking and keeping the people on board uninformed. The food on this ship was the poorest I have received and lacking in presentation and taste. No I would not recommend this ship for it's food. However if that does not matter to the customer, then, the ports of call are very appealing.
