7 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 22, 2007

Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

Our overall impressions of the ship was that it was a fantastic floating hotel with excellent accomodations. It had everything a person could ever want from a shopping mall, spa, pools, restaurants, and every type of entertainment imaginable. One could do as little or as much as they wanted to. Rooms were very quiet.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was excellent with an abundance of choices. The dining staff were very attentive to our every wish.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There was a constant variety of activities available to meet or exceed the diverse desires of all cruise guests.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We took our 13 year old granddaughter & our 16 year old grandson & with basketball, mini-golf, rock climbing wall, etc. there was more than enough to keep them contented & happy. The staff was always available for assistance.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We never met a staff member that did not go out of their way to provide excellent service. Of course their salary depends entirely on the tips, which encourages outstanding service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was massive, but we never felt crowded. Every area was immaculate, with staff constantly cleaning & polishing everything. The layout made it easy to find everything.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a junior suite on the 9th floor. The room with the balcony was wonderful. It had a king size bed, love seat that made into an additional bed, huge walk in closet, full size tub with shower. More storage space than we could ever use. It was well worth the extra money.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We booked a trip to the beach from a shore vendor for $25.00 each, that included lunch, unlimited drinks, snacks, beach chairs etc. We all (6 of us) had a great time. 2 of the group rented wave riders for $40.00/ 1/2 hr., and had a fantastic time jumping the waves. 2 others went snorkling for $15. each for 1 hr. on boat to coral reefs. Everyone enjoyed the day
Don't Miss: The beach was nice, very reasonable

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Xcaret is the best.
Don't Miss: Xcaret in Mexico

Belize City, Belize

We took a quick tour & did some shopping. The prices for name brand purses & sunglasses was so low, almost unbelievable.
Don't Miss: Children thought the rainforest areial excursion was a don't miss.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 of us did the 7 Mile Beach & barbeque. The beach was nicer than in Costa Maya, but the watercraft activities were twice the price. Barbeque was ok, but place was not as friendly.
Don't Miss: 2 of us Honeysuckle horseback ride on the beach - wonderful time

Pros: Immaculate ship with excellent service

Cons: Having to come home
