Review summary

The cruise was fine. I don't know if I will go through American again to book it though. Royal Caribbean didn't seem to want to help with anything because we booked through American. And American didn't give us any pointers, like when to schedule flights, when we booked it.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
There was a lot of people to process but it seemed to move in an organized fashion.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The drink packages they try to sell you on ship were overrated as far as we were concerned. We saved money by not using them. The food was good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was plenty for us to do on the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some of the shows were mediocre but others were really good.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
There was plenty for our teenage son to do on the ship.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The majority of the staff were wonderful. Ironically, the staff at the customer service desk were not as welcoming.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean and organized.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was small but we made it work.

Ship tip

Make sure you read all the info about the ship before you book your flights.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
Plenty to do in Seattle. We had a nice time for our last day.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Beautiful weather and scenery. Loved the whale watching in Juneau.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Beautiful weather and scenery. Loved the train ride along the Klondike Trail and visiting the town of Skagway.

Victoria, British Columbia

4 out of 5
Could not get over how pretty it was there. So many flowers and history.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very organized. We loved the luggage valet service provided by the boat.

always use cruise line site. never a problem. get better deals than most that use a TA. I know this because I talk to a lot of people about their booking experiences.

Lol. the cruislines websites are buggy at best. Have used both expedia, Bjsand TA. found that a TA always could me a better deal. My TA was able to get me a better room and 2 free promos for 100.00 more that NCL did. never had to book a flight as only 2 hours drive from Boston or NYC.

Use Orbitz for cruises and connecting flights.

I always book through the cruisline

That is the big draw back when dealing with a TA, independent reservation taker, or a travel program instead of the cruise line (or resort) directly. The third party company now owns the contract and you will be subjected to their contract and their level of expertise on the cruise line (or resort). Unless an outside company is giving out a fantastic deal (ie. 30% of my fare in either OBC or booking discounts), it's not worth it to give up my direct control over my vacation plans.
