Very enjoyable cruise to a long-desired destination. We've done the Alaska cruise, a Mediterranean cruise and a Rhine River cruise - enjoyed them all.

Food and Dining

Food at the Lido restaurant was varied and plentiful, easy to access. The salad bars were excellent and I admit to a fondness for the Sweets Bar. I love pastries, especially the croissants, but was disappointed that they weren't warm. It made them a bit tough, taking away from the flakiness that makes them so appealing. Food was inconsistent in the main dining room. The trout was overcooked and dry; the salmon ran the gamut from perfect to dry and somewhere in between. The NY strip was gristly and tough. The filet mignon was good. Salads were good, and the shrimp remoulade was delicious. Portions were reasonable - I ate everything and was satisfied without feeling stuffed. We ordered wine by the bottle a few times and one night we were halfway through our meal before they located our open bottle. Service throughout was excellent.
Onboard Activities

We walked the Promenade Deck almost daily and I went to the pool once. It was disappointing to go there only to find out that ALL the deck chairs were reserved by 8am and it was rare to get a chance to use them. We enjoyed the use of the Library - I read 4 great books while we were at sea.
Entertainment

The Island Magic Steel Band was great. The dancers were very good, too, but it would have been nice if they varied their routine. The music changed but the dances were pretty much the same. Wish they had thrown in a tango or salsa - something to change it up. The Panama Canal briefing was informative and well done.
Children's Programs
My children are 56 and 60.

Without exception the service was exceptional.

It was sometimes hard to know if we were headed forward or aft, and got it wrong a few times. Perhaps some arrow signs near the elevators would be helpful.
Cabin / Stateroom

Comfortable bed, loved our veranda, our steward kept everything tidy. I was surprised to see the condition of the tub - the bottom looks dirty because it is worn. Not at all inviting. Tubs can be refinished, you know!
It's easy to get to, we drove from Georgia and used Park at the Ports. Embarkation was well expedited, as was disembarking. We were off the boat at 7:30am!
Did not do an excursion. We walked around town and did a little shopping. It's obviously having hard times and many shops were closed. It was still interesting.
We took the Ferry excursion through to the Pacific - went through all the locks, even had 2 sailboats rafted up to our ferry (right below our veranda) through two of the locks. Highly recommend this tour!!
