This cruise was planned over a year ago because of it itinerary and to go on it and miss 4 ports. Not acceptable, and given very little in compensation. This I believe with all the other disappointing food and entertainment. We will not be going on Holland America again.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
We were prepared and got to wait in hold room until our number was called to board. Cattle call!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
the food was served in the Lido better, no other passengers handling my food. Main dining was boring. Like they are trying to get you to go to the other restaurants!
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
not much for younger couples to do. casino was old, main stage acts were sad to say the least. Holland America needs to step up some in all areas. They are old and tired like most of there guest.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
the duel piano bar was the only entertainment we somewhat like. They were ok. BB KINGS was ok, Main stage lame.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
no kids with us
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
ships personnel were the shining stars
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
ships layout poor, Cleanliness great!
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
narrower than other ships we have traveled on, older, and bed was hard. Had to ask for something to put on it to soften it up so my wife could sleep.
Why did you miss the ports? Did the Captain wake up and say “Tired of this place, sail on”? Or was it for safety (a dirty word to some) or equipment issues? And how can you mark the kids stuff as a 1 if you did not use it? Looking forward to boarding for Alaska in 55 days.
Ports can be changed or missed for a variety of reasons. If a specific port or ports are of high importance, I recommend a good travel policy that compensates you for missed or changed Ports. Nationwide sells a good one and others probably do as well.
