Review summary

We were disapointed with this cruise for the following reasons:

-The cruise is tailored to the elderly. About 90% of the ship is above 70 years of age; which is fine, but all of the entertainment is tailored to their likes. Also, the entertainment repeats itself almost nightly, so there aren't many new things to do.

-We had several incorrect charges on our account the first two nights of the ship. We now have a couple hundred dollars of incorrect charges we are going to fight.  I hope they are not doing this to the elderly as they may not review their accounts closely.

-We are a couple both of age 28. We were treated as if we were 16 on this ship. We both work in professional services and are mature and respectful individuals who paid just as much for our trip as any other on the ship. This was hurtful.

We received a handicap room and are not handicap but that was OK. Only issue was no couch as promised on the initial booking and the carpets really needed to be updated.

I agree with you, we where on the Westerdam last year and awesome time. I liked the ship better but the staff and activities was not good.

Good point about the charges and seniors. It is hard to remember some charges after a week in the best of circumstances. May I suggest Carnival for your next cruise. Cruise lines certainly cater to their clientele, we can't fault them for that, we just have to research and know what we are buying.

Holland America like Cunard are known to cater to an older clientele. Next time look into Carnival, R.C. or N.C.L. their passengers are mostly younger. If you want younger, professional passengers, try Princess or Celebrity.
