Review of my trip on the Enchanyment by joewynkoop

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I very much enjoyed my trip... our two waiters in the main dinning room were great , their names were Dane Mitchell and Earl White,,, we looked  forward to dinner everyday because of them and the good food. One suggestion would be to separate the families with young children from the people that have no children... but do it with out anyone knowing this is being done so that no issues are raised... you could know ahead of time where to put everyone from your passengers list.. this was our third cruise this year,,,,,,,.

bad experience by sergiorn1030

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have cruised with royal carribean before and this time around my experience was not enjoyable. The staff Members were very rude. From the munster call to the staff overall. Very few if any activities enjoyable. I recommend more shows throughout the day. I also recommend that the ice cream machine stay open past 9pm along with ping pong and other individual activities. I recently cruised with carnival for 3 days and found to have a better experience overall. Staff was friendly and there were dance shows throughout the day which were great. Price was also very affordable. In the future I will think twice before boarding on royal carribean. Very disappointed.

Not Happy with Experience by cynthiajohnson6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I give my overall cruise with RC a 4, it was a 7 until I saw my bank account after the cruise. The food was not good, the entertainment was very poor. The best part was the unlimited drink package. They did not have enough actives for the young people and I did not like the idea of a curfew for the Jr cruisers.

Now to the good part the debt my account multiple time throughout the cruise which i accepted Sad. They gave me a final bill on the morning of departure great Wink mind you I have about 8-9 pending debts on my bank account already that total the amount of my final bill. So why in the H E $$ would RC then charge the full amount of my final bill to my bank account Angry. I have been back 5 days now and still have hundreds of dollars pending on my bank account and RC has there money already. This is not acceptable!!!!!!! I have been on many cruises and have never had this problem, this is not just happening to me either my whole party is having this problem. Terrible! My family will not be cursing RC again. Thank you.

Fun and relaxation! by penrilo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cruise was very relaxing for a 4 day cruise ... I enjoyed the full day at port in Nassau for there was time to enjoy the sites and shop. Returning to ship so enjoyable soaking up the sun (either balcony or one of the many bars) with the "speciality drink" of the day, lol.

This photo is the Port of  Nassau Bahama taken from our 8th deck balcony..

Cococay Beach Photo, below:

was another spectacular day! Royal Caribbean provided all the food/drinks while enjoying the beautiful  beach, very relaxing .... we didn't par take in the food (hamburgers/hotdogs), but we did eat aboard ship ( wide assortment of foods) before going to beach.  All in all in was a good day!

The entire staff was friendly and willing to help in anyway possible; from our state room attendant, servers at the bars and head and assistant waiters!

Thanks Royal Caribbean for a wonderful Thanksgiving get-away!

We Expected Much Better by WeLoveCarnival

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Prior to this cruise we had only been on Carnival Cruises. We had heard from a lot of people how "amazing" Royal Caribbean Cruise were supposed to be so we decided to try one. We found ourselves bored most of our time on the ship. Carnival is definitely the "Fun Ship" compared to the RC Enchantment of the Seas. The "Adult ONLY" solarium was full of running, screaming kids. The food choices were very limited. The best part of the cruise was definitely the wait staff. They went above and beyond. Overall it was an OK cruise. We're going to stick with Carnival cruises.

Change in quality. by monarchgc3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I was on this ship a few months ago. Between then and this cruise, I noticed big changer. Did not feel like Royal Caribbean at all. Food is not of good quality, I spent a long time on line, waiting to go on tour I purchased. Could not have my liquor purchase sent to my cabin, as done on previous cruises, had to stand on long line on the morning of departure to collect. Will Start checking other lines, if this is the future of this line. After so many years with Royal Caribbean I am sad to leave. Thanks

Hail to the captain and his crew by Staugbeachmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Despite the forcast of high seas and storms, the captain and crew managed to maneuver around the bad weather resulting in smooth sailing.  While we missed visiting Coco Cay (since tendering was not advisable) we spent two days in Nassau instead of one--and the captain was able to get the best docking area in the port--with the best view of downtown Nassau and its colorful buildings.

One major improvement in the food area--smaller servings.  Didn't gain or lose weight.

I'm very happy with my family. Dining service and room service is good. Cococay island is two thumbs up. Sun shiny and beautiful beaches is awesome. Most of gift is good condition and reasonable price. But unfamiliar watch shop staff is terrible.

Sick on the Sea by katgunter2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

First night on the ship I became violently ill and was isolated to my cabin for 24 hours. I wasn't sick when I arrived, so I'm assuming somehow I ingested something not good.

Therefore, I didn't get to visit Nassau. My spouse is handicapped and had to go alone. We were very upset. That being said, the next day after being released from isolation, we went to Coco Cay Island and it was wonderful so we were able to salvage the rest of our vacation and had fun. We are being credited 1 days worth on a future cruise although it should be more since it affected my spouses experience as well. We will go again and give it another try because it really is a decent ship considering it's an older vessel.

Getting sick was unfortunate, but I guess it happens and we will more careful next time

A very good weekend by steelergirlinfl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I finally sailed on the long wished for and often tried but WOULD not afford Enchantment of The Seas.  Living on the east coast of FL, this is the most convenient port for me, however, I am not always willing to spend $200 more/person just to sail out of this port to this itinerary.  However, this weekend, the price was right so we tried it.  Just coming back from the NCL Sky cruise in late September to the same location gave me a lot of comparison opportunity.  I found the boat, overall, not as nice as the Brilliance or Radiance, but perfectly enjoyable for a weekend cruise to the Bahamas.

1.  DO NOT expect to go on this ship and get great nighttime shows as there are none.  DO expect to go on this cruise and find many ways to entertain yourself.  The music entertainment garnered a 3 of 10 from me on my RCCL survey.  (I seriously thought the band playing in the Centrum area was karaoke a couple of times.  Imagine my surprise when the same girl kept singing the next couple of songs in the set....definitely not karaoke)

2.  DO expect to have a good dining experience in the MDR.  No need to go to Chops and pay $30 when you can have the same filet in the dining room for $16.95.  The side dishes were good but not worth another $15.

3.  DO NOT worry about overeating the rich desserts.  In fact the Enchantment should consider a new pastry/dessert chef as I could not find one dessert that would garner more than a 5 from me and that personal favorite was an oatmeal cookie.  Several of the desserts were downright laughable (the mud pie in Chops and the dark chocolate souffle' in the MDR) which is sad because I don't eat dessert that often and was looking forward to this part of the meal.

4.  DO NOT expect to sleep on a cloud in your statement.  The bedding is comfortable and clean, but the mattress border more on the Flintstone side of firm than the other.  I did learn that you can request for your steward to "flop" the mattress to a side that is more cushy and they can add an egg shell top under your mattress cover to lessen the pain your will surely feel in your hip/shoulder if you are a side sleeper.  Also, note to self, if  you like your pillows flat,  no need to carry on comfort from home.  If not, consider making space in the carry on.

5.  DO expect great service from the on board staff.  Everyone was very helpful and friendly.  Hopefully you will not want to interact personally with the cruise director because he was rarer than a pearl in an oyster.

6.  DO take time to enjoy a movie on the big screen outdoors.  Very fun.

7.  DO take time to go the spa on the first day as the special they offer those that attend the raffle drawing is a great deal.  $89 for a plethora of treatments with the ad they hand out after the raffle.  Saves you about $40.

8.  DO take your own drink to the gym.  The water fountain squirts a minimal amount of fluid and is in an unfortunate location.  The vending machine that was there takes $$ bills not your room key and was also out of service all weekend.

9.  DO expect a great variety of food at the buffets.  120% better than the NCL offerings on the cruise I took several weeks ago.

10.  DO expect easy embarkation and debarkation.  Purely magical.

11.  DO NOT expect this to be a sparkling new ship, even though it has replaced the Monarch. DO expect it, however, to be well-maintained.  The 3rd floor starboard side had an abnormally pungent sewage odor.  It did not creep into the cabin, but every time you entered the hallway, you were reminded that you were on the 3rd floor.

12.  DO NOT anticipate using the fabulous coupon book for repeat guests.  The coupon book is now a preloaded benefit on your room card and varies dependent upon your level.  BUT there was nothing free for Gold or Platinum and the offerings were almost embarrassing.  I think that RCCL should just discontinue this if this is as good as it gets.

13.  DO NOT expect a past guest party if you are not Platinum or higher.

14.  DO expect to have a great time on the private island.  The water is beautiful, the chairs plentiful and the bbq lunch more than adequate.  Go early, stay late.  Tender service was easy peezey.

Comparatively with the NCL Sky, the boats are similar.  The island at NCL is a little nicer, however, if a beach is what you are looking for, you are golden.  There is NO comparison between the food on the Enchantment vs. the Sky.  Hands down big winner here.   The entertainment in the evenings on the SKY is a big thumbs up but not having to drive south to Miami would make me consider this cruise again.

Not the Enchanment of the seas by travlinjim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Certain parts of the ship (like our room) is outdated there was rust in many different parts of the ship.  The smoking in the casino is terrible.  The smoke travels throughout the 5th floor and is nauseating.  The food in the Windjammer was not very good, but the food at the main dining was good, but limited in selection and quantity.  (On the first night they ran out of the main dessert)  Restaurant was very warm.  Pool was small.  Elevators were slow and typically crowded.

On a positive note - the theatre was nice and it was easy getting on/off the ship.

After we went on board, everything was PERFECT!!!!! by rivkasap

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Before our on board experience, I vowed I'd never cruise again because the process to buy our tickets, register, and deal with all the pestering email attempts to sell us upgrades, beverage packages and shore excursions were daunting.  We were denied the on board ship credit that went with our deal because we did not fill out some hidden area of the invoice when we paid, and Cruise.com refused to correct this.

Now, forget all of that because everything else was WONDERFUL.  The ship was perfect for its name, "Enchantment," and our state room was spacious, attractive and immaculate.  Entertainment was top notch.  Every venue was exquisite.  The meals couldn't be better, ranging from the richest and most decadent to the healthiest yet still scrumptious selections.  Each and every staff member was competent, courteous and kind.  The private island, Coco Cay, had every type of activity we wanted along with a first class barbecue lunch.

I'd go again in a heartbeat if I could stand the punishment of registering.

Did not meet expectations! by alamandapatriot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had cold showers for the first two mornings on ship.  The third and fourth night there was so much noise on the deck above that we could not sleep.  The strip steak in the formal resturant was tasteless.  Other than this, the staff was wonderful and the ship was beautiful and the food everywhere else on thhe ship was very good.  I will consider Royal Caribbean only if it is different ship.  I have cruise Carnival, Norwegian, Holland, and Costa many times in the past with better experiences.  I am sorry to say!

Wonderful! by tripp27905147

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first cruise and we really enjoyed it.  A special thank you to the staff at Chops restaurant,  they really went out of there way to make it a very pleasurable experience. (food was excellent) We actually ate there 3 nights in a row and the staff was hugging us on the 3rd night.  I will be back.

3rd.time on Enchantment by midgenfrank

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We are booked to go again in Jan., about 100 people in our group. Loved the food when I cruised in April however this month's food was just not good. The breakfast in the dining room came out cold and the dinner's were only ok. I talked my husband into this Nov. Trip mainly because of how wonderful the food was prior. The cut backs are quite noticeable and truly not looking forward to our Jan. Cruise.

Dissatisfied
