Review summary

I love this older, smaller ship. The crew is great, food is good. No nightly entertainment was a surprise, terrible kids' club, but overall, a great (and very economical) cruise.

Embarkation

Perfect, could not have been smoother.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The MDR food and service was terrific. Our main waiter (Radi) was the BEST ever, especially for our 9 yo boy. The food was great.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The only thing we really wanted was Adventure Club for our 9 yo boy. It was terrible. It was no more than babysitting in an inside room. They did not do scavenger hunts, no swimming, no rock wall - nothing! They just stayed in a room! My boy hated it. We have heard that Adventure Club is terrific on other ships, but it was NOT on this cruise.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
No stage shows in the theater. There was a pretty good band by the pool for a few hours a day.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiter (Radi) was THE BEST! Our room steward (Rommell) was great. Almost all the personnel were great except the kids' club folks - they were NOT having fun and did not like their jobs. Also, the kids club was supposed to be opened from 9am to 5pm on port days, but it was NOT - they would close for 2 hours for lunch, but I could not back from my excursion in time. One day, we had an excursion to meet off the ship at 9:15, and the kids club did not open until 9am. We were waiting at the door but they just looked at us through the glass; they finally let us in at about 9:02am, then we had to run to the end of the long pier in Costa Maya.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I loved this ship even though it's older and smaller. They keep it clean and it's a great (easy) size.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Tiny cabin but well laid out. This cabin worked out for 3 of us!

Ship tip

Do not count on the kid's club - my child hated it. Everything else is wonderful if you're not picky.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Always fun in Cozumel and we had a great snorkeling excursion.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Great snorkeling excursion.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We booked an excursion through an outside vendor and I was a bit worried, but it turned out to be a great speed-boat ride and fun snorkeling with sharks and stingrays.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

I don't care for this port, and our Glass Bottom Boat tour was not great. The tour operator "forgot" our tour and we did not have transportation to or from the boat - they had to hire taxis for us.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We had to wait longer than usual to disembark.
