Review summary

Enchantment is old, there’s no getting around that. It’s not a problem, but maintenance doesn’t seem a priority. It’s smaller than Royal’s mega ships, but that’s an asset. Only one speciality restaurant, Chops, but I’m a MDR person. The staff are, as is typical, amazing. It’s a great overall experience, with the confidence of sailing out of Baltimore.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Seamless and quick. Professional staff.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
MDR food is…okay. Every time I sail it seems to modestly decline in quality. The service remains outstanding, but the meal itself is not the experience I remember.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There’s certainly less on Enchantment than the larger/newer ships, but what they have is solid.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Average RCCL fare.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on board was polite, professional, and really made the cruise memorable.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship is clean, but the age is showing and they aren’t doing much about it. Rust is visible everywhere. Seems the solution is to occasionally paint over it, but even that appears infrequent. The outdoor TV was inoperable the entire cruise and I didn’t get the impression it was even being looked at.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room is comfortable with a large balcony on the rear. Again, it seems they’ve done nothing to update or modernize the room. It was alway clean, and the attendant did a great job. It was in good repair, even if dated.

Ship tip

Viking Lounge has prober bar but less noise to enjoy company and beverages before dinner.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

2 out of 5
Embarkation, wouldn’t venture into the city.

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
No excursions, but walking distance to downtown. Felt very safe. Beautiful and historic city.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Nice port area. Two ships in at same time made it kinda crowded.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Gorgeous town, almost seems fake. Great seafood. Definitely a tourism premium, but work it.

Saint John, New Brunswick

3 out of 5
Was really foggy the day we visited, but still got some excellent poutine and draft beer.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy and quick.
