Review summary

It was a fun 5 days and a welcome return to cruising, but only because we are "loyal to Royal." The ship needs a refreshing. We should note that we've been spoiled by the Oasis and Quantum class ships we've been on for most of our recent cruises. It's hard to go back to a smaller ship, especially one this small. We've been to Bermuda 7 times, and we still love it.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Boarding started a half hour behind schedule -- even the staff admitted they were late. The lines outside the terminal were long and there was a fair amount of confusion. Once the lines started moving, we moved quickly and were aboard the ship in a few minutes. My wife needed wheel chair assistance during boarding, and the staff did a great job getting her one and helping her get aboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was ok; food in the buffet seemed a bit better than the food in the dining room. Bars were fine, drinks were good. Wait staff and bartenders were really good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There just wasn't all that much to do. Bingo was fun; and we listened to a lot of live music in the Centrum seen entertainment). Other than that, this ship was pretty boring.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
No productions shows in the theater. The magician was entertaining, but how many times can you go see him? The live bands were good, especially Rockport -- it was hard to believe these guys were from the Philippines

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
From our stateroom attendant to the wait staff in the dining and the cruise director's staff, everyone was attentive and made us feel welcome.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was certainly clean, but felt shabby. She needs paint and polish and a long visit to the dryfock. She's 25 and showing her age.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was on the small side but Edmund, our cabin attendant, kept it immaculate. Bathroom was miniscule and I've been spoiled by the shower doors on the bigger ships.

Ship tip

If you're used to the bigger ships, like we are, be prepared for something much smaller. Bring you own entertainment -- games, cards books, etc.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation in Bermuda was a disaster. Very disorganized, long lines. We went back upstairs and had a drink at a bar to let the crowds ease. Because of this, we missed a ferry and had to wait 2 hours for the next one -- costing us time in Hamilton. Disembarkatkon at the end of the cruise was ok.
