Review summary

Lots of fun on a totally relaxing 5-Night cruise with Royal Caribbean's touch.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth and fairly quick, with friendly and welcoming attendants to assist in the process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We did not do any specialty dining this cruise, and were not disappointed in the Main Dining or Windjammer. Good service and good food was the standard. Very enjoyable.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Schooner Bar trivia was a bit challenging with problems in translation of the Staff Member not having English as their primary language. The Cruise Director was so-so and rather canned in her little quips and quotes; rather un-creative.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The live music continues to be an excellent highlight of all theater performances. Extremely professional. The Asian-American comedian Paul Agata was hilarious.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The Staff obviously enjoyed their work and working environment; very friendly and helpful at all levels.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Enchantment arrived to Galveston May 2019 in bad shape visually, especially the exterior. Rust and needed paint was rampant. By this sailing in Oct 2019 she had most definitely improved, but not at all the Royal Caribbean standard. Window cleaning was heavily needed and rarely seen attended to. The Captain needs to up his game.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The Balcony Stateroom was roomy and well laid out. I mainly use the balcony to dry out my scuba equipment, but the comfort of the stateroom with sofa still had plenty of storage and room to navigate.

Ship tip

The ship is great for adults looking for a relaxing getaway.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
The Galveston terminal and area are pretty standard to expect from a cruise port. Parking is easy and close by.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico Did not visit port

Last minute change of itinerary due to engine concerns took us to Progreso, MX instead - which turned out to be a great port of call for excursions. Without an excursion - stay on the ship! Progreso has extremely little to offer without using it as a launching-point of exploration.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
The people of Cozumel continue to be great, and the scuba diving is awesome!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Slow disembarkation, mainly due to LOTS of folks leaving prior to their number being called, and then overwhelming the system. Royal Caribbean needs a better process in this regard.
