Review summary

Guys, your cruise is what you make of it. Research your ship, know what you booked, and manage your expectations. If you're coming into it already looking for stuff to complain about, you will find stuff. But if you don't have fun, that's on you! It's a great ship, lots of fun to be had.

Embarkation

Easy, breezy. On the ship, drink in hand within 15 minutes of arrival at the terminal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Chops was delicious! We enjoyed the main dining room. The food was pretty good, the service was excellent!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had FUN. We came to have fun, so we did. People complaining about the activities are just looking for something to complain about. We had a great time just hanging by the pool (and the pool servers made sure we never went without a drink). We line danced. We played volleyball with the crew. We sat in on Karaoke (didn't sing, there isn't enough tequila on the boat to get me to sing!) The late night comedians were fun! The Love and Marriage game show was a laugh, The Battle of the Sexes and Quest were a RIOT. Jane, who sang in the Schooner bar was amazing. We danced and sang along with the band in the Centrum. We enjoyed the activities by the pool, and we LOVED Dancing under the Stars. The Captain and senior officers even came by that party! Cruise director Bobby, and Activities Director Michael were so much fun. Bottom line, if you come in with the expectation that you WILL have a good time - you WILL. If you come in with the expectation that you NEED to be entertained, well, honey, can't help you there. We didn't get to do the trampoline because it was pretty windy, so it was closed, and same for Rock climbing. We didn't miss it. The spa was very nice as well.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows were okay, not great, not terrible (I am not a live theater fan in general, but my husband enjoyed them). The late night comedians were great, the poolside band, the Centrum band, and the Schooner Bar singer were outstanding. Karaoke was entertaining. The Parade of Flags was amazing

Children's Programs

We didn't need them this cruise! Just grown-ups this time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Stateroom attendant Shiva was AWESOME. We go towel animals every night, and even a bonus one on the last sea day morning! Room was kept impeccable. Our dining wait staff, Salvio/Atep, and Li and Christian were amazing. So attentive. Bobby, the director was a HOOT. We can't wait to see him again when we sail again in February. Michael, the activities director was a lot of fun!

Ship Quality

Common areas were impeccably kept. Only complaint was some of the bathrooms, the doors were difficult to tell if they were locked or not. Otherwise, they were very clean, always well stocked. I was concerned about smoke due to some of the reviews. I have a severe allergy and can have severe asthma attacks if exposed to cigarette smoke. Honestly, I didn't notice it! We didn't go in the Casino, and avoided to smoking section on the pool deck, moved away from those smoking on Deck 5. It was not an issue at all!

Cabin / Stateroom

Decor was a little outdated, but we don't really care about that. It was VERY clean, very well kept by our attendant, and perfect for just the 2 of us. We enjoyed our balcony very much.

Ship tip

Do all the things! Have all the fun! Don't wait to be entertained - go find it! Meet the people. Because it's smaller ship, there are more opportunities to meet people, and then see them again throughout the ship. Take your nose out of your phone - and join the experience!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
We live about 40 minutes away, so Galveston is not a novelty to us. Embarkation was a breeze, debarkation was a little rougher, but it was on the ship side getting off, not the customs side. No complaints

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We did the all inclusive beach day. It was a little early in the morning, but we managed. The ride was about 45 minutes - a little long - but we saw wild Flamingos in the salt flats, so that was fun. The drinks were pretty good, the food was about what you could expect. Plentiful, relatively good. The beach was clean, but as one of the last buses to arrive, slim pickings on the beach chairs. The pool looked clean and well maintained, but we didn't get in it.

Cozumel, Mexico

Love Cozumel. We went on the Jungle ATV tour. It was a little tamer than I would have liked, but fun none-the-less, and we got to jump into the Cenote and swim in the cavern under the fruit bats. We saw multiple iguanas, a "squatee" (no idea how to spell) but basically a huge brown mexican raccoon, and a huge swarm of butterflies. It was pretty awesome. They drove us out in a huge high water vehicle. We had enough time after returning to the port to take a cab into town, and eat at our favorite Cozumel restaurant Palmero's. Y'all, go try the ceviche there. SO GOOD. Back to the port to watch the drunks roll in back to ship (literally, rolled in on wheelchairs. C'mon people, learn some self regulation), the pukers, AND the pier runners! hahahahaha! they made it though!

Disembarkation

Loooooooooonnnnnnnngggggg line on the ship. We did self carry, we won't do that again next time. Once we got through security off the boat, and into the terminal, the process was relatively smooth and we were through customs pretty quick.
