Review summary

Clearly this is an older ship. While it lacked many stateroom amenities that more modern ships enjoy, the staff's attention to detail, enthusiasm and charm made up for the slightly tired (but clean) interior.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Effortless, organized and quick (possibly due to purchasing Priority "Key" package)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room food was hit or miss. Some dinner entrees were fabulous, others were so-so. All of the desserts were so-so. Windjammer buffet was outstanding. Service was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! The Chops Grille was genuinely fine dining.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were sparkling, and there were plenty of chaises. Good Lord, it was hot.

Entertainment

I didn't attend any of the shows

Children's Programs

I had no children with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Absolutely outstanding! Wait staff were attentive to every need, enthusiastic, charming and did their very best to meet every need of their patrons.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Layout and design were fine. Two of the six elevators were not working during our cruise, which made the wait for elevators lengthy at times. But stairways were wide and conveniently located.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Size was fine, however the staterooms were dated, with limited amenities. For example, there were only two electric outlets in the stateroom, not by the beds. The steward brought two industrial extension cords, but we could use our CPAP machines OR computers, but not both at the same time. No outlet in the bathroom. Room was clean, steward was helpful and charming. Beds were on the firm side but still comfortable as were the pillows. Balcony was nicely sized. BUT THE NOISE LEVEL FROM BEING IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE POOL AND BUFFET DECK WAS LOUD AND CONSTANT, DAY AND NIGHT. I won't ever stay immediately under the pool deck on future cruises. And I will bring a power strip.

Ship tip

Do not stay on Deck 8

2 hour comfortable coach bus to Chichen Itza, which was incredible.

Cozumel, Mexico

Upscale, clean, but beach was 10 miles from the pier (the visible beaches were all private hotel beaches near the pier.)

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We had priority disembarking, but there was still a lengthy wait at passport control.
