Review summary

Enchantment of the Seas is in need of refurbishment. It is old, in poor repair and is rusty. However, it is clean and appears to be safe. Food in MDR is very good and overall service is friendly and professional. I guess it would be ok for a very short cruise, but for the money you pay I recommend seeking out a different RC ship.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
No problems, well organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was very good. Table was always immediately available with My Time Dining. Windjammer was busy but good for a quicker meal. Chops was not worth the extra cost. Quality of the meal was not much different from MDR.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Solarium always had open spaces.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Shows are geared toward “older” crowd. People seemed to like them. My 2nd RC cruise and this one had the same comedian as my first cruise. Told mostly the same jokes.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Great service throughout. However, the waiters should not be made to dance. It is demeaning.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Everything was very clean - but this ship needs refurbishment. It is worn and rusty

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was clean, but had creaking noise when sailing. We had the same type of room on Adventure of the seas and did not have this problem. Door on storage area would not stay closed until I jammed a sock in it.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Enjoyed visiting Galveston. Arrived a day early and stayed at Harbor House. Close to cruise terminal, but a little too far to walk.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Went to Maya Chan. Smelled like fertilizer. Nasty! Port area shops were similar to each other.

Cozumel, Mexico

Took AtV tour to jade bat cave. Be ready for bumps. Wild tours was company (through RC). They were professional and friendly. Also went to senor frogs. Menus show pesos - you figure it out and they convert charges to dollars. Used credit card with no problems.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Slow and disorganized
