Review summary

Although this ship is old, it’s still has the RC quality. The service and food were better than other cruises I’ve been on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was actually VERY good! Better than Oasis! The lamb shank in the MDR is always my favorite. We had a horseradish crusted salmon the first night and it too was excellent. Our server was efficient and very personable, remembering our preferences and allergies. Chops grill was also very good but the restaurant is SO LOUD! They sing Happy Birthday 10 times throughout the night and it gets a little obnoxious. I get it that one wants to celebrate, but do that fanfare in the MDR not a specialty restaurant!! We were offered a chef’s table discount because nobody wanted to go apparently.... the 6 of us in our group had a private chef’s dinner and it was fabulous. Even better was buy one get one 50% off. The menu was good but it hasn’t changed in a long time. They also offered us a kitchen tour the next day! Chops grill had only ONE girl doing drink orders and we had to wait about 20 minutes to get our wine!! We later complained to the food and beverage manager and he was concerned and said he would look into this immediately.

Onboard Activities

Spa serenity room is the ships best kept secret to get away for some peace and quiet. We didn’t go in the pools. Pool side bars and band were great.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship singers and dancers did a show on the last day and it was fabulous!! Unbelievable singer did a Whitney Houston song and it was bar far, they best I’ve ever seen. The audience was in awe! The cruise director is lovely and fun .

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Compared to recent RC cruises, this staff seemed more attentive and went above and beyond

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean but the ship is OLD and you can see rust everywhere. It’s still a RC ship and the quality is there. Then centrum is nice, shopping areas cramped. But there is a great Traditional Viking Crown Lounge! And the suite lounge and Diamond lounges are also up top in Viking, not stuck below on deck 4!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Suite dated decor but perfect suite. Oh the bathroom is huge and the bathtub!! To take a bath on a ship is so great! The storage was unbelievable and we didn’t even use half the drawers and closets!!

Ship tip

Forget the bad reviews! Yes it’s old, but they make up for it with great Food and service! DO CHEFS TABLE

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

Embarkation port only. We live here

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau is a crappy place and I just don’t get the attraction. Atlantis is ok, but once you’ve seen it, there is no reason to go back to Nassau. The Straw Market is a dense packed shopping area with isles so narrow and the same touristy junk repeated at every turn, with vendors begging you to look at their stuff.... be aware!!

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
With the improvements to this island, it is THE place to visit !! It is comforting to know this is RC owned and run so there’s no fear of “locals” or robberies, etc. we always get a Canana as this area is more secluded and private; the bar is close and you get a special bufffet with made to order grilled kabobs, or steaks. The Bungalows are in a more congested area but they have a better beach. One does not have to rent a Canana or Bungalow, as there are many free areas to go, but I want to get out of the sun.
