Review summary

This cruise was a very nice experience.  Long enough to be relaxing and enjoyable; short enough as to not be tedious.  Good port selection.  Staff and crew were Great!

Disappointing as we could not go to CocoCay due to the weather.  Royal Caribbean should have arrange for another port, or reimbursed some of the trip.  There were only 3 port and when you miss one, its pretty significant.

Royal Caribbean could improve communications to passengers while on-board by displaying announcements on you cabin TV and on the touch screen monitors throughout the ship.  You can not always hear or understand the announcements over the intercom system

You're right, rgbenning. Plus with most ports there's only so much room to dock those big ships and those that were originally scheduled to go there get first shot at those spots. Likewise, there are only so many people offering excursions at those ports and so there's not always enough excursions available for an extra 8 ships/18000 extra tourists.

Cruise lines set up the itinerary at least a year in advance. It is very difficult for them to change to a different port at almost the last second. As far as a refund I suggest you actually read the cruise contract. I highly doubt you would get a refund of any kind unless the cruise line feels the need for positive advertising.

You don't really pay for ports you pay to be on the ship. They reimburse port fees or taxes but that's it. All cruiselines do it this way.

... but I do like your idea about the announcements being posted on screens!

If you read the contract you sign when you book a cruise with ANY cruiseline, you will see that it says that you understand that at the Captain's discretion ports may be substituted or completely omitted and if that happens the ONLY compensation you are intitled to is a refund of port fees. Word to the wise.... If stopping at a particular port is going to make or break the cruise for you, then you need to cruise during peak (read that to mean the most expensive!) season of the year. And if your all important port is a tendered one (one where instead of walking off the ship, you are transported by a small ferry boat to your destination, like most of the private islands!) be forewarned that if the sea is very choppy or the wind is strong, the small ferry boats cannot safely be used so you might still miss those ports!

I am sailing on the Enchantment as well, what are your thoughts on the ship? Any tips or must do activities, What to see, where to eat? Thanks!

I'm am scheduled to visit Coco Cay next week. Weather looks iffy that day so I am not sure we will make it. They have lots of cancellations there due to it being a Tender Port. If the weather isn't good, they cannot safely get you there. They are building a dock so they can avoid having to cancel the stop all the time. It would be great if they could just take you somewhere else but they can't just go where they want. There are logistics to consider and the Port Authority ultimately decides such things. It is in your contract that itineraries can change due to weather and there is no course for refunds. It sucks but that's the policy and by agreeing to the cruise fare/contract, you agree to that policy. I do agree with you about the announcements. I can never hear them! I wish they would add them to the tv's and touch screen monitors too!!
