Review summary

This was our 1st time on a Royal Caribbean ship & it was a very nice cruise. The ship definitely shows it's age. A lot of people were upset that they shut down 1 of the pools on the last full day of the cruise...& the hottest day, as well. As far as we could tell, it was so they could paint it. In my opinion, that could have waited. That was really our only complaint. The food was good, service was excellent, & everyone went above & beyond to make sure we had a wonderful vacation. In the future I would probably cruise on a larger ship with more to do, especially if traveling with teenagers again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had Clinton & Mario as our waiters for dinner & they were fabulous! Always kept us laughing & made sure we had everything we needed.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not very much for older teens to do. We have been on 2 Carnival cruises & both had more entertainment & activities for them.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were really good. Our favorite was the juggler, Victor. He was so funny! His humor made the show so much better. I would definitely recommend seeing him!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room attendant was Zuri & he did a great job! We saw him all the time. He was always working but took the time to stop & talk to us. Anything we needed, he made sure it was taken care of.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Shows age & has a lot of rust, but it was always clean. They are always working to keep it very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an adjoining room & our only complaint was that the beds were not set up the way we specified prior to the cruise. That was taken care of within an hour of arriving, so not that big a deal. Rooms are small but we didn't spend much time in them. Plenty of space for clothing.

Ship tip

The Windjammer gets very crowded, especially at breakfast. Get a table 1st & then get your food. They always stop by to take drink orders, singer your OJ from the waiters. The OJ at the beverage station is watered down & not mixed well.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

We took a bus tour & so happy we did because it stormed the day we were there. It was much nicer driving around & seeing the historical sites while staying dry.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

3 out of 5
Go early. We waited until close to lunch to go & everything was shutting down before we were ready to go back to the ship. They close the further bars down 1 hour before the other bar closer to the dock.

Key West, Florida

3 out of 5
Great town to walk & explore on your own. We walked to the southernmost point with no problem.

Yes, the newer, larger ships do have more to do - but more people doing those activities also. Sounds like another cruise is in the works. Good luck!
