Review summary

Gratuity should be per room, no per person, too expensive for what we received, food is okay, and crew (some of them) should learn how to treat with respect the travellers

We had one story where our table mate took a kitchen tour. Workers who have a better skill with English have a better potential of getting an " front of house" job, but those who don't will have a back house position. Well, one kitchen worker was slicing tomatoes. The guest asked him about the job and it was 12 hour shifts. However, the worker was happy because he said last year he was peeling potatoes and this was a lot better. Both jobs were better then what he had at home in the Philippines. He seemed honestly happy for the opportunity. Those are the folks I wish tips trickled down to.

I agree with Windjam064! A lot of people don't consider having to tip at the end, and when it comes, it can seem like such a burden. but these people serve hand and foot for guests 12 hour shifts 7 days a week for months on end, they deserve more than the gratuity fee. More people need to pre pay their gratuities, and then give a few extra bucks here and there! They might give you better service

The staff work hard and have long contracts, even 12 hour shifts 7 days a week for 10 months. I no longer think of gratuities as "tips" but as a service charge imposed by the cruise line. Plus, not all of the money goes to the staff directly so if someone gave great service, and you have the means, a quiet gift of direct cash is always appreciated. It is good karma I think.

Haven't sailed on enchantment yet. But noticed that rccl phone customer service declined. Sad.

Sometimes the travelers need to treat the crew with respect. Sailed on Enchantment last month and found everything and everybody top notch. Could not have asked for better service, accommodations,, and food.
