Review summary

Enjoyed the cruise and would go again; the staff was great. Was my first time cruising, so I didn't know about the extra charges, such as $12.95 per stateroom guest added to Bill (for each day) to go toward gratuities ($26 per couple). Seems somewhat excessive when I trip anyway whenever getting an extra service.  Overall great experience.

Had a stateroom with a window. Room was smaller than anticipated from the pictures. Bed was comfortable.

Ship tip

Sodas are not free on board; however, you can bring your own bottled water or soda onboard. You can also bring a cup with a screw on lid and get ice in windjammer cafe. If you bring your own bagged tea and instant coffee, you can use mugs and hot water at windjammer.

Ports of call

The terminal was good but bad signage to figure out where to park for which ship.

One thing, not mention, is the tips are shared with everyone, kind of a bonus check, so you are helping the laundry staff, cooks, dishwashers and people you don't see.

Also the daily gratuities will go up .55¢ per person per day effective sometime in May

You can have those taken off before or during your cruise and just tip as you go...

It's in your cruise documents.

You can prepay gratuities when you book so you don't have to worry about it in the future

Well, that's the point. You don't have to tip in cash. They take it out automatically. Royal is one of the higher ones for how much they take. Also, a lot of times they throw in gratuities or onboard credit. Whenever I get free onboard credit, I look at it as them paying their tips.
