Review summary

We stayed in a inside stateroom at Deck 8.

Stateroom is about 10x8, with enough closet space for 3, bathroom is 5x5 at most. Room is very outdated, I could compare to a Motel 8 room from early 90s. It had a nice flat TV but nothing amazing.

We knew we were staying at the worst room in the ship, but as we passed through the rest of the room in our level, they looked all the same to me.

We left on Jan 4 and returned on Jan 8. Weather was terrible, it rained on us almost every day, winds of 30 and 40 mph. and this affected us a lot. They didn't let us stop at Cocokay and Nassau was just very windy and rainy.

We were first time cruisers, for our taste the ship moved too much, we would wake up in the middle of the night due to the doors closing and opening, things falling and our cabinets door constantly opening and closing. We don't get sea sick, but it was just very uncomfortable for us. This happened almost every time we were on sea, but a lot!

If you have the chance to go and get one of the rooms at the bottom and back of the ship, that's where it feels that less.

Food was 4 stars, kid's entertainment was 4 stars, pool area is very nice and adult entertainment was good too.

We had a 6 year old, they had food for her age and tons to do.

Do not pick inside staterooms, I know they are cheaper and tempting but for a hundred dollars more, get something with a view or a suite.

Service was acceptable...I was expecting a little more to do since we were inside basically through the whole trip, but it was limited.

By my review I have never meant to offend long-time cruisers. I have just wanted to comment on my own experience and that includes weather (as I perfectly stated on my title). If I judge my experience just by the looks of the ship then I will be failing and probably it will be a while for us to go on another ship again lol

Kathomas1963 so glad you had a good time! We also had a great time, sailed out on Nov 2nd!! We too, are trying a new cruise line, Norwegian, but only because they are offering a free unlimited drink package!! Otherwise we would happily stick with Royal. I have a feeling Royal will always be my favorite lol

HI LAUREN45...WE WENT NOV 2ND ON OUR FIRST CRUISE AND YES THE WEATHER WAS GREAT EVERYDAY AND VERY CALM SEAS..I WAS SO GLAD BECAUSE I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE FREAKED OUT IF THE BOAT HAD STARTED ROCKING...OVERALL THE SHIP WAS NICE REGARDLESS OF ITS AGE...WE ARE GOING TO TRY CARNIVAL NEXT TIME JUST TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT...ENCHANTMENT IS A BEAUTIFUL SHIP AND I WILL NEVER FORGET MY FIRST CRUISE...

true true, no I meant more just temps and what it's like mostly that time of year...... I thought u were on the epic Jan 13 with us but your not.

Yes temperatures will be much more accurate!! I just like to make sure people know rain is ridiculously unpredictable in the Caribbean. Looking at the average precipitation for the last half of the year will scare most people out of taking a cruise lol

caseymccune    8 years ago

lol, true, but at least average temps at time of year. we are in Barcelona and I checked average temps for here in Jan.

lauren45    8 years ago

You missed my point lol. I went during one of the worst weeks of the year on average, and didn't see any rain at all. Sure it will give you an idea, but if you go based off of averages you might as well never go on a cruise anytime between late July - December! I live in Florida, so I experience pretty much the same weather as the Bahamas year round.. Weather here is completely unpredictable

you can get averages on weather and make an educated guess. patterns don't lie.

What I WOULD suggest researching, is your ship. You could have easily seen how outdated the staterooms are by looking up images of the interior of the ship. Also, it was made in 1997, so yes everything will look like like its from the 90s, because it was!! I've been on NCL escape, one of the largest newest ships, and the interior room was the same size as on enchantment. All cabins are small!!

I had an interior room when I went and I thought it was perfectly fine. I would never pay a hundred more just for a window lol. Also, doing research on the weather doesn't help much. I went in early November, one of the worst times for weather in the Bahamas, and we did not see one drop of rain. It's mostly a stroke of luck.

why would you want an inside stateroom?? always go for a window at least. boats do move on the water, its water. also you went in Jan check the weather of were you wanna go before you go. it is the year 2016 we have access to do much information, do your research.

I think having bad weather makes you notice the room size a lot more. Normally, rooms are only for sleeping and changing. And most rooms definitely do not compare favorably to any hotel room in terms of size. But then again you're on a ship. Cruising in rough weather is tough for anyone, much less a first time cruiser.
