Review summary

We enjoyed everything about the cruise but an Atlantic transit is a one and done for us. Could have accomplished just as much staying home as being stuck of a ship for five/six days crossing the Atlantic. However; talked to any number of folks who've done this numerous times and they seem to enjoy it.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
well organized and easy to accomplish

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
by and large, the food was great; the drink package made ordering easy, the wait staff for main dining and buffets were outstanding

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
O'Malleys Irish Pub really made the journey fun. The Irish/Scottish duo, Rambling Rovers were a highlight of the trip. (Now if Princess would reassign the idiotic "Pirate Queen" somewhere else, the ambience of an Irish pub would improve 100%). Only hit the hot tub twice but plenty of them around to make use of.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
comedians marginal; stage shows marginal; bar, piazza, outside shows/musicians were very good (especially Rambling Rovers).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room steward was excellent! Wait staff in all venues were friendly, attentive, and just plain great to deal with.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
the common areas were clean. getting off the ship for excursions/trips ashore was easy.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We've been used to a small table in the previous cabins-none this time. the cabin and balcony area was smaller than all prior cruises, but not a problem. the room was clean and comfortable. room steward made up the room multiple times a day-great steward

Ship tip

We were on deck 16. my wife loved it; I did not. to high up with heavy seas/swells rocking and rolling the ship in the Adriatic, and Atlantic

Ports of call

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

4 out of 5
did a Pisa excursion. very nice other than the bus parking was a distance from the site and a workout for a handicapped person

Gibraltar (U.K.)

5 out of 5
didn't make it to the Gibralter citadel itself but the excursion up and around Gibralter itself was educational and enjoyable. We took particular notice of the lack of graffiti that seems to mar every other place. Way to go Gibralter

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

4 out of 5
Merely got off the ship and took a short jaunt into town. enjoyable in its own right

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
disembarkation can often be stressful. This was one of the better ones. Pretty well organized. We opted for the Princess arranged transfer to airport. worked just fine
