Review summary

Overall we had a nice relaxing vacation. We were very glad we booked the Enclave, and very much enjoyed the Sanctuary for one afternoon. I would recommend Princess for anyone looking for a low-key cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The drinks were excellent. Hard to decide which to choose every night. We were disappointed with our reservation at Capri MDR. We had to wait in line for several minutes, and the service was always slow. One night we decided to try the Amalfi MDR. We were seated immediately, even though we did not have a reservation, and had excellent service. Go figure. I will not bother making a MDR reservation in the future unless something changes. Due to the slow service at Capri we had dinner at the buffet a few times. Good food and a decent selection. We also very much enjoyed the sandwiches at the International Cafe.

Crown Grill

5 out of 5

Great service and excellent food. Glad we were able to secure a reservation.

Gigi's Pizzeria by Alfredo

3 out of 5

On the Enchanted the pizza restaurant is actually called Gigi’s. We tried it three times because we had enjoyed Alfredo’s on the Sky so much. Unfortunately each time the service was slow and the food luke warm.

Onboard Activities

Absolutely loved the Enclave and we’re very glad we booked it on day one. Also very much enjoyed the peace and quiet at the Sanctuary in the afternoon. If you want to book the Sanctuary it’s a good idea to go stand in line as soon as you get on the ship as it books up quickly. The pool area was quite crowded on sea days, however there are an abundance of lounge chairs on the 17th and 18th decks, so one can always find a place to sit somewhere. Enjoyed a few of the trivia games, and indoor mini golf at Take 5 was fun. There is not a lot going on in the late afternoon so it’s a good time to take a nap ;-)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Very much enjoyed the musical acts around the ship. The White and Gold party was also entertaining.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent and deserves 5 stars. Some of the staff around the ship seemed a bit overworked, and the MDR seems to need more staff, or a better system.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We found the ship to be clean at all times. Staff is very quick to pick up dirty dishes. We did not mind the layout of the shop.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very comfortable bed. Good closet space. Shower is a bit small. Always clean.

Ship tip

Be patient with the elevators or take the stairs.

Ports of call

Roseau, Dominica

Enjoyed our excursion to the hot springs and Tito’s Gorge

St. George's, Grenada

3 out of 5
We did not have an excursion and decided to walk to the chocolate store. We found some of the locals to be rather pushy trying to get us to take a taxi or show us around town. One guy followed us for a bit trying to be our tour guide. If we were to go back I would probably book an excursion.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
We didn’t do anything in Ft Lauderdale other than stay overnight and head to the ship in the morning. Short trip from the hotel to the pier which was nice.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
It was quite crowded. The buffet wasn’t great. When we left there was a huge line, which only got longer. We waited at least 30 minutes for the tender boat but at least we were out of the sun. I felt bad for the people behind us that were in the sun and would have waited longer. If we were to go again we would probably leave shortly after lunch, as after 1pm it’s a gong show getting back to the ship.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We did a snorkeling excursion which we had a lot of fun on.

Yes, the Enclave can be booked online up to about 15 days prior to embarkation, or once on board. The Sanctuary has to be booked right at the Sanctuary. It generally fills up fast on the first day.

Thanks for your review! Just wondering if the Enclave and the Sanctuary are booked separately?
