Review summary

Very good experience except for St Lucia. Been there before and I don’t recall having a bad experience. The ship is beautiful and the staff professional and friendly. I would say cruising is getting back to normal, love the Princess experience. Sailing again the end is January.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
There were problems with the transport from LaGuardia to the ship. Lot of confusion and lack of organization at the airport. One we got to the ship it went well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was not dine my way, although I reserved a private table months before the cruise at 6:00, some days they could not accommodate this and stated their private tables were full and/or sent us to another dining room. Other than this minor inconvenience the experience was good and improving from previous post Covid cruises. The food was very good in both Moab dining rooms and buffet. Specially restaurants were top notch

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty to do if wanted but mostly just laid back

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Went to one show, a musician. He was terrible. Heard other shows were much better

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Contrary to what I previously heard about staff being stressed and over worked. The staff on this cruise were friendly, appeared happy and enjoyed their work. It was nice to see and they made our cruise that much more enjoyable.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well maintained. I do miss the layout of the older ships though.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It had a little more square feet than some, which gave us a little bigger balcony. Proximity to elevators were good making for less walking to deck 16 and midship

Ports of call

Castries, St. Lucia

1 out of 5
Not what I expected, was escorted to a taxi from inside the secured area going to Reduit beach. The taxi appeared to be run by thugs, with supporting gangs that brought you to the extremely crowded beach and once there you had to wait for the same driver and could not leave early, unless you walk I suppose. It was an organized, gang oriented racket and appeared that it could have been dangerous. Honestly I was glad my wife and I got back to the ship

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Great day at Mambo beach

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
Beautiful port, friendly

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Pleasantly surprised due having 19 cruises and never been to this port

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
Went to the local beach, it was not the clear Caribbean water I expected. Had a yellowish tint to it. Seemed polluted

New York, New York

3 out of 5
Problems with the transfer but did get to the ship in plenty of time

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Another wonderful beach day at Eagles beach

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Did an EZ check, was not smooth due to either problems with the airline or Princess, not sure which, lost one bag in the process

To Dirty Pirate, we took a cab, very easy although there were a number of ships in Port and chairs were sold out. We got there late morning. Cabs were $8 per person each way

In regards to Aruba, did you take a cab to the beach or go through an excursion?

Sorry about your St. Lucia experience. That’s usually a good port of call for us. Thanks for the warning. Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise otherwise.
