Review summary

The comment section for the cabin was not working so we are commenting on it here. We had a wonder suite (Port of Spain Suite). However, the service to the suite was just like a regular cabin. Rolan our Steward was great, don't get me wrong, but usually there is a special service butler or cabin attendant that provides additional service. There were a few small things, like it was indicated at check in and in the room documents that laundry was free. However, we were charged for it on our exit bill. We tried to exchange some champagne with another bottle of equal or great value (and pay the difference) for five days and never completed the transaction. We don't drink champagne but do like Asti or Riesling. We called room service, talked to the Associate Mater D, room steward, etc. Again, not a big deal, but I had called ahead with the Spa & wine package and they told me over the phone to work it out with our cabin steward. The Suite Breakfast in the Crown Grill was a terrible experience. We showed up there one day (a port day) where the paper in the cabin stated it ran from 7am-9:30. We showed up at about 8:50am. They were closed. At first the Mater D indicated that they closed at 0900. I showed him the paper and he said, "well no one was here so we closed." We did go back several days later and showed up around 8:40 on a Sea Day (they were open until 10:30). The staff was somber, almost depressed. You could tell no one wanted to work there. They did not introduce themselves, they took our order, someone else brought it and that was about it. They were busy taking the table clothes off the other tables, vacuuming, and setting up for lunch. One morning we went to the Club Class area, and there Mater D Razan immediately greeted us, was super friendly, the staff were happy, helpful, and very attentive. Razan made us personal crepes & Nutella, and they kept bringing orange juice coffee, and sweet rolls throughout the meal. I spoke to Vasco, the Associate Mater D at dinner and suggest they move Razan to the Crown Grill. Maybe more people would show up with that kind of service leadership!

Food and Dining

Woody was fantastic. Hard working, very friendly, and always service minded. The wine selection at dinner (by the glass) was a bit limited. I noticed that there was a similar listing at Vines but with them, there were more by-the-glass selections (e.g. Vines had Chateauduneuf de Papa by the glass the dinning room did not). If you are worried about having to many open bottles, the Wine manager could implement a open bottle rotation between the various dinning rooms and wine outlets to keep bottles in use. We would do this at a restuatrant between the bar, catering, the specialty dinning room, and the main restuarant dinning room. Offering more choices for consumption moves the product faster, and makes more money.

Service and Staff

Woody, our waiter was fantastic! Also Rolan, our cabin steward was great. We noticed that you no longer have a wine steward in the dinning room. The assistant waiter takes care of this. Well, our AW was good, but was busier than crazy and although I might get a glass of wine at the beginning of the meal, more than likely that is the last time I would see him. This might be on purpose so as to keep people with the Premium Drink packages from ordering too much!

Ship tip

Elevators are slow. Get use to walking the stairs. It is good exercise and you will find it faster than the elevators.

The after cruise survey is the best place to get your voice heard. I feel your pain. They didn’t have chatanufe de pape when I was on board. 😎👍
